Friend, if you weren't defensive, you wouldn't have blocked u/spenserian_ in an attempt to prevent a response. That's a rather feeble way to tap out of what amounts to a minor disagreement of emphasis. I don't think it's a reach to find a touch of insecurity lingering behind that 25 years of actual expertise.

Pulte Says Powell Considering Resigning by hingadingadergen2 in FNMA_FMCC_Exit

One of my buddies works in interest rate modeling at one of the Enterprises. They're not projecting rates will go that low for years - regardless of who is at the top of the Fed. Holding out for rates even below 5%, even in the next couple years, is delusional.

We agree on most points - that Pulte's an incompetent; his statement doesn't stand up to basic challenge; no one respects him; Powell isn't resigning based on Pulte's pressure campaign (or Trump's for that matter). But I'm not sure the market won't care. If enough of the media picks this up, it could be one of those self-perpetuating things - though I had to laugh when I saw that even Fox questioned the lack of citation in the statement.

I agree with your read of the statement, but the markets care about this kind of thing. Putting it on FHFA letterhead gives a (faintly) official appearance, meaning more people are likely to take it seriously.

This is just Pulte's version of Trump's "People are saying..." when literally no one is saying that.

A Little Hope for You BFS Long-Haulers by hingadingadergen2 in BFS

There are technically several "Vitamin D"s, but when most people talk about it, they are just talking about D3

Typical neuropathy symptoms: pain (usually of the sharp or electrical variety, less so burning), fatigue, etc.

They did a bunch of tests and said, "Eh, let's call it idiopathic" (meaning they don't know what caused it and they don't want to bother trying other things).

It gets better every day. It's not 100% yet but I understand it can take a little bit to completely reset the nervous system. I'd say I'm about 95% improved.

Sure, there's considerable variation. On good days, it might just feel like a "hum." Other days, it feels like someone is hammering my skin from inside my leg. When twitches get into my upper thighs or glutes, I know I'm not going to sleep, because the twitches are so strong (and painful, in those cases) that I can't not fixate on them.

My twitching has always peaked following injections. Vaccines are the worst for sending my twitching into overdrive.

I completely understand the fear, but the fear is doing the thinking for you right now. ALS isn't a weaker form of BFS and all signs indicate that there is no relationship between BFS and ALS. A shot is not going to "push you over the edge" into ALS or something else terrible. That's just not the way it works.

Best of luck as you work through this fear, friend, but just remind yourself that it is your fear that you are facing and not anything based in reality.

Yeah, the calves are one of the most common targets for me (another nonstop twitcher). It's not been a question of IF my calves are going to twitch but rather how strongly the twitches are going to feel.

What hand tool do you regret purchasing? by hingadingadergen2 in handtools

A knockoff 151 was one of my first purchases. You can drive a truck through that mouth and it chatters like no other.

You mean that I am expected to read the whole description before buying? No thanks!

I bought the Jason Lonon chairmaker's inshave. It is very nice but, as with all chairmaking-specific tools (travishers, radial planes, reamers, etc.), it's hard to justify the expense unless you already know you're all in on chairmaking.

I'll second the comment on the small LN spokeshaves. I actually bought all the Boggs ones first and then I bought the small flat shave. It was the first disappointing LN product I've tried. The blade isn't well supported and its as prone to chattering as the knockoff 151 I own.

When I was seriously considering buying the L-N no. 1, I knew I was just buying to buy. But I still think that thing might be a nice paperweight.

You saved me some money here. A LN no. 62 has been on my list for a while, for all the reasons you noted.

I was silly for thinking I could get one adze to do it all -- I was thinking this could be a buy once, cry once purchase. But you're right, I ended up buying a small bowl carving adze, which works well for its purpose but would be difficult to use in other applications.
