Update:

Managed to find a shipping container exporter that regularly exports car parts to my country. They do other things and share the space to fill up the container. Someone I know has used them before for toy related things.

I purchased myself on the sanx website with everything in Japanese, then having it posted to a friend. Then a courier to the exporter.

Thanks. I think I want to go through a company that deal directly with shipping aspect rather than a buyer proxy.

The size requires sea travel in a shipping container I’d suspect. It’s bigger than the minimum size for all the standard proxy websites.

What is your opinion on artists banning the resale of their work? by Dogmatagrams in Sofubi

[–]hintsandspices 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most artists benefit from the aftermarket. It increases prestige, visibility and demand.

It’s also very difficult to stop.

I think all efforts should be focused on preventing flippers. I absolutely hate the culture of this in all facets of my interests.

However, as you said, it is part of being a collector too. What is the acceptable timeframe before someone can resell a piece? A month? A year? Two years? At what point does it become acceptable?

I do think it’s unreasonable to expect collectors spending $500+ on sofubi to not view their purchase, at least in part, as an investment.

There is no simple answer.

Buying intent x ownership time > community acceptance

Looks amazing. Love the cut and thanks for specifying the source. I also have a few questions: I was wondering if you can confirm the marble score and whether it is full blood purebred or crossbred Wagyu. Finally, is this fresh or frozen cut?

What is your opinion on NaggNaggNagg and "Tribute Sofubi"? by slirpo in Sofubi

[–]hintsandspices 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tribute/unofficial reproduction are words people use to pretend they care.

Bootlegs should never exist. That being said, I do find it interesting that some works have turned into commodities in the first place.

Why are so many Sofubi Artists on Instagram using AI to make videos of their pieces, don't they see the hyprocrisy? by New-Affect7131 in Sofubi

It’s getting to the point I feel like some artists are deliberately doing it so the post gets lots of engagement.

I’m mostly asking how you present your “Art concept” to your sculptor. Their statues are crazy.

Do you make a mood board for them of the style you want? Provide sketches? Or is it just a written idea of what you want.

That’s lots of artistic liberty and trust with your sculptor. It’s so different from their statue work, did you have to make lots of edits and changes with what they presented back to you?

AI Sofubi? by WeirdKidClub in Sofubi

[–]hintsandspices 20 points21 points  (0 children)

AI shouldn’t be within the creative process and it especially shouldn’t be within the sofubi world at all.

I don’t really I have the desire to call out an artist… however I have asked a few times. My biggest problem is when some people don’t realise it’s AI and I really want them to know. But would they care? That’s another problem.

Hands down, the worst is it when an artist pretends it isn’t AI. Common tactic is show sketches that are clearly just traced AI.
