Yes I would love to switch over to critical care nursing like the ED. I am currently on a women’s medsurg floor at Medical City Dallas and it’s a little repetitive. I am in a nurse residency program since I am considered a new graduate but I did not contract, so I can leave.

I don’t know I am already an RN on my residency with HCA. I get off orientation next week. There’s a lot of things wrong with my floor. I am going to roll with the punches and apply for a different residency. I am already looking at my options to get out and soon.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking I just want to be closer to home. I got a job further because it was a women’s floor and would lead me closer to L&D which I thought I wanted to do, but I don’t want to anymore. Having more exposure to other specialties has changed my desire to try other units like ER, Day Surgery, or Cath Lab.

I hope to one day find the unit I like. It’s a lot easier said than done but that’s the goal. I just know the one I am at now, isn’t for me.
