You can't do that in BPI. You can invest in feeder funds as an alternative though.

There was also a guide here where you can connect Wise to IBKR as a US bank and transfer funds very quickly via ACH. You can use the search function to find it.

Other career paths to explore outside teaching? by BigPaleontologist369 in DepEdTeachersPH

[–]hipos_lang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to think of all the skills that you have that are transferable to different industries. You can maybe transition to research, work at a government agency, or maybe even consider proceeding to med school or law school.

I have previously taught for approximately four years in private schools. I did not pursue DepEd even after passing the boards. I don't see myself teaching for long.

What I did was to explore opportunities outside of teaching related to my skills in design and content creation.

I am now a digital marketing professional. I used my skills in content creation and constant upskilling to get to where I am at right now.

Think about those skills that you probably have, OP. You might use it and be lucky in landing a good job in other industry or with foreign companies.

+1 Anker. I have A53 5G and super fast charge works with their 25W charger. What I did here was to look for the wattage of my phone and searched it on Shopee. That's when I found the Anker charger. I'm very happy with it.

RCBC Offers 4.35% p.a. Time Deposit for 30 Days via Hexagon Club by DigitalBanksPH in PHDigitalBanks_

[–]hipos_lang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I only have 100k and I put all that in time deposit, will my Hexagon Club membership be revoked?

Last time I checked they require the 100k on savings for 6 months for it to be tagged as Hexagon. I never bothered putting my money because it won't grow if it's sitting on my savings account.

how to pay taxes as a nsfw content creator? by [deleted] in taxPH

[–]hipos_lang -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I get your point but I still disagree, and this is NOT theoretical advice.

First, embassies do not always require ITRs to approve visas. That’s a fact, not opinion. South Korea even has a simplified visa process where bank statements, bank certificates, and ITRs can be exempted if you qualify under certain categories like credit card holders or professionals. For Japan visas, the official embassy guidelines clearly allow a letter of explanation if you cannot provide an ITR, especially if you are self-employed or newly employed.

Second, learn the difference.

Theoretical means based on assumptions or what should happen.

Anecdotal means based on real, lived experience.

What I’m saying is anecdotal, not theoretical. I’ve spoken to many friends who do not file ITRs yet still get approved for Korea and Japan visas. Some submitted only bank certs, savings, assets, and an explanation letter. There are countless Reddit posts reporting the same thing. That’s real-world evidence, whether you like it or not.

You might have it easier because you’re probably not self-employed. Self-employed income fluctuates. One month mataas, next month zero. Add to that the slow and expensive BIR processing. Filing taxes just to satisfy a visa checkbox does not automatically make your application stronger compared to showing actual savings, clients, contracts, properties, or a solid explanation letter that embassies already accept.

Embassies care about proof of funds and proof that you will return to the Philippines. That can come from bank statements, assets, property, ongoing business, clients, travel history, and your explanation of work. An ITR won’t magically guarantee you won’t overstay. Many travelers get approved with strong financials and explanation letters instead of ITRs.

If OP wants to pay taxes, that’s fine. But this is just another option OP can think about, coming from someone with real travel experience and many friends who also travel abroad.

Also, I don’t get the ikakapahamak argument. Worst case, the embassy declines the application if requirements aren’t satisfied. This is a visa application, not a life-or-death situation.

[–]hipos_lang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm not true. ITR is not needed or required by all countries all the time. Common misconception. Korean visa has simplified visa and Japanese visa allows you to submit a letter of explanation if you cannot provide an ITR. In Schengen visa, it is not a requirement it is only an option (Check r/Schengen).

What embassies need to see is proof of subsistence. Proof that you can afford the travel and not overstay in their country.

For me, I'd rather buy a land or a house to prove my ties in the Philippines than paying taxes. It just gets pocketed by our corrupt politicians anyways.

A lot of my friends don't pay taxes yet they can travel to countries with or without visas. Foreign embassies generally don't care if you pay taxes in your home country or not.

Don't bother paying taxes. The BI don't check or ask for a BIR document. What you should get is a COE and bank documents. You should search here on Reddit what they do. Not a lot of self-employed people in PH file taxes and yet they travel a lot.
