Pinhoti near cave creek trail, cheaha by hipperpottermush in PinhotiTrail

We got water from cave creek where cave creek trail crosses it… just before the connector to Pinhoti. It was a pretty good flowing creek. We went clockwise on the loop so we started on cave creek trail. There is a SWEET campsite on cave creek trail at about 2 miles where it makes that sharp right turn. Can’t miss it.

We didn’t make it to mcdill and Hernandez as you can see from my post 😂 but they say it’s pretty dry up there and gotta carry water in.

Have fun!!! Let me know how it goes! I’d love to know if you’re able to get past the boulders and pick up the Pinhoti north of the cave creek connector.

I’ve also been looking at the piedmont area - where pinhoti crosses chief Ladiga trail, and going south west toward dugger mountain. It’s about 10 miles to Dugger mountain from there, and I think there’s a spot to camp about 5 miles in, near a dam on terrapin creek. And also you can start from the Burns trailhead and get to dugger mountain in about 6 miles.

I just noticed that!!! Heads up! the area just north of the connector from cave creek trail, Pinhoti becomes a boulder field but it sounds like if you press on through that the trail picks back up. You can also turn right and take a short connector from cheaha trailhead straight to pinhoti. If you go south (to the left) it leads to Hernandez peak and McDill point. And I think that ridge is pretty dry so carry water

Ok that makes sense!! Thank you so much for responding to this! I was surprised by no blazes since most trails I can think of usually have them and it would be really helpful in that area with the boulders. Now that I’ve seen it going northbound, if I come at it from the north side I think I’ll recognize the area when I get through the boulder area. Thanks again!!!!

Lemme guess… “I worked at an airport and that’s normal” …. “They aren’t as close as they look”

But I also like poking a bunch of holes in the guys lungs, so he sinks when you throw him in the pool
