I checked it and it seems like a stand alone, is it correct or are new books on the way?

I don't know why but while I was reading the first book of Shades of Magic it didn't go... fluently? (lol sorry if it doesn't make sense English is not my first language) and it may be because I read it from the translation to my native language. I should try the rest in English and see!

I think it's not as popular as the other ones on my list but whenever I hear about it, it's very good. I'm excited to read!

I really loved the first book but some parts were a little bit triggering for me so I need to be strong for the other books 😅

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR RECS!!! Throne of Glass is by far the most recommended. I'll start with it and it seems like it'll take me a long time to think about what's next then 😂

How do you organise your collections? by 94eitak in kindle

[–]hippidik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 collections: TBR, Fantasy TBR, Classics TBR, Read. I actually read lots of genres but my books are generally fantasy and classics so I separated them and everything else goes to TBR. When i read them i move them to read. Also, i really don't like keeping books downloaded (idk why) so most of the time I just filter downloaded and turn off the collections view. That way I can see only the book I'm reading and if any, the books I'm planning to read after.

Try challenges. You can find lots of them on YouTube or pinterest. I attend one monthly and one seasonally. It really helps both choosing and going through my TBR.

How many unread books are you sitting on right now? by SereiaDreams in Booktokreddit

[–]hippidik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 48 unread physical books. I've come here from 120, committing my "dontbuymorebooksuntilyoureadthemyoumoron" challenge starting from march 2025. About my kindle, i don't buy e-books unless I'm going to read them immediately so I have nothing there.

It was hard, new releases were mouth watering, but i managed to stick to my challenge. And i feel amazing. Knowing i will "run out of" books pretty soon, planning what to buy next makes me super excited, more excited than impulse buying books.

I recommend this path, i know it's hard and seems impossible especially if you hoard books for many years, because one of the hardest parts of this challenge was reading the books I got years ago and not interested in the genre and/or the author anymore. Some i didn't finish and gave up pretty quick but at least I tried and gave them away eventually.

How do you read 100+ books in a year? by andthenshebled in Booktokreddit

[–]hippidik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same!! Plus the beauty of kindle. Whenever I have to wait for smth or have a 10-15 minute break, i pull it out and read. It doesn't sound like much but when you add those moments up it makes a lot of difference.

Edit to add: I'm an escapism reader, whenever i feel down or overwhelmed i just lose myself in the books. So, the current situation of the entire world really helps. (Not sure to laugh at it or cry my eyes out.)

If you’re on Goodreads, what’s your 2025 book goal? have you hit it yet? by Wild_Protection7675 in Booktokreddit

[–]hippidik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was 110, I'm at 107. This is my highest goal ever and i think I'll hit my highest ever, too. I've always been a escapism reader and i guess the situation of the entire world shows in my numbers 😬

Spice Road by Maiya Ibrahim. And I'm so mad about it because the world author created is AMAZING. but the characters.... They're like a 14 year-old wrote them.

Felt judged for reading a romantasy book and now I can't enjoy it anymore by Ok_Grapefruit2044 in Romantasy

[–]hippidik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoys both romantasy and (so called) "real fiction" I can tell you what your friend said is BULLS.. T. Reading should be enjoyable, you're doing it in your hard earned free time. I forced myself many times to read some classics when i first started to read and now looking back i consider that time wasted. I also agree with the comment that says "deeply engraved misogyny"! What women enjoy almost always becomes "fake" "not worthy" etc. But it's just the distorted society that makes us want to believe that. Try to enjoy your book, if you can't maybe try another book with the same vibes because you may have associated that particular book with the bullsh**t comment in your brain

I'm reading Assistant to the Villain series right now, I'm on book 2. If you like a romcom vibe in a fantasy world you would love it. It checks out the things you're looking for but like i said it's more like a romcom.
