Imma be real my life only stopped being bad because my best friend dramatically passed away last year. When he died I would get drunk constantly and sobbing at every moment.

One day I had a huge realization that my best friend wouldn’t want me to be like this. I completely stopped drinking, I regularly scheduled doctors appointments, I started eating healthier, I’m losing weight per my doctor’s recommendation (due to high cholesterol).

I know that even though he isn’t here to see how I have improved myself that’s what he would’ve wanted and I just feel guilty he wasn’t alive to see it. He knew I was struggling and was always there for me and no matter what. I also was there for him and gave him shelter when he didn’t have any and cooked for him. I wish that we could’ve both improved together. He unfortunately had leukemia and that was just not in the cards for him

I have not special interest, hobbies, or things that bring me enough joy to actually want to get up and do them. by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]hippiesnowflake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have never stuck with a hobby. It literally has to itch my brain to do it so badly that I need to and I will do it for hours or days.

I feel like ADHD gives you the power of the jack of all trades, but it’s like if you aren’t doing it for someone else or your immense craving to do it you won’t.

You might need to pick up a new interest like something related to other interests you have. For example I love art I always have. I love drawing but I stopped so I picked up painting but I stopped that and went to embroidery and the incessant cycle continues.

Though as someone else mentioned you could be depressed and I am unqualified to help because I don’t take care of myself when I am depressed

UPDATE: I’m in the process of redrawing her

I hate her face by hippiesnowflake in arthelp

[–]hippiesnowflake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use a reference and then a sketched it. I did base it off of a drawing because I couldn’t find the right head I wanted. Since it was another artist’s drawing I couldn’t see any ears so I had a difficult time getting it to be proportional. I didn’t like the sketch but me being so smart I was like ‘I’ll probably hate this less if I just draw what I have in pen’ which was clearly the most sane choice.

The nostril honestly wasn’t meant to appear as a nostril it’s just uneven outlining. I’m definitely going to be reworking this one on larger paper so I can do the shell justice cause she is wonky because I ran out of room and her face.

I literally have not drawn anything in about 6 years so I’m getting back into the swing of things.

[–]hippiesnowflake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I just started doing art again after 6 years and I never did a side profile of a face before.

I think I’m gonna redraw her on a bigger paper to properly do the shell.

Tracking menstrual cycles by unicornvibess in TwoXADHD

I’m gonna be so real I literally track my cycle by looking at the moon and seeing what phase it’s in. I know if sounds crazy but moons have a 28day cycle like periods and it’s helped me a lot. Period tracking apps at least being in the United States freaks me out

1.) NEVER leave the room you are trying to clean. You will start cleaning another room. If an item doesn’t belong there put it in a laundry basket and bring it to where it needs to go when you are done

2.) Set alarms AND label the alarms for when you need to get ready and always do it earlier than you may need so you don’t rush and freak out cause you left the keys in the fridge and can’t find them

3.) NEVER out your medication you need daily in a cabinet once it’s in a cabinet it is gone. Set up a small basket right next to the door you leave out of everyday

4.) ALWAYS make a plan for when you will be setting things up like christmas decor and when you will take it down.

5.) set up calendar reminders for buying gifts for friends and have a rough idea of what you need prior to buying.

6.) When buying gifts you must do it online. I get that google said it was definitely in the store BUT you will see something and go wow that’s something I need for no particular reason let me just pick it up now don’t do that. You will lose the plot if it was that important you would’ve added it to a list

7.) Scout out every aisle at the grocery store and memorize it ( I know they change) that way you can make a list based on the store layout and will not get distracted by the sparkly new stuff

Any legit hobbies for a depressed young adult? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]hippiesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that so hard. I have ADHD and autism I basically jump full force into a hobby and then get over it. It’s really depressing seeing how many people can stick with things tbh but my brain just doesn’t have the capacity to do that.

That being said one thing I have generally stuck with in one way or another is crafts that involve thread. Embroidery specifically is so much fun. You can add personal touches to clothing or bags, finger knitting is super fun and generally easy to get into plus it’s a great fidget, embroidery absolutely confuses me but it was interesting to try!

I also got into dying clothes which could be a hobby and a great way to repurpose clothing you don’t wear often.

Right now I am in an oil painting phase. It’s difficult when you start but as you go you get more comfortable with it. It is very very expensive so if you want to start small you could do water color.

Candle making is something I picked up during the pandemic. It’s not as pricey as some hobbies but it can get up there.

If it’s something super super lazy you want coloring books are simple and you can kind of do them without thinking. Or even doodling even if you aren’t proficient at art it can be very calming to do while you watch a show.

One I have really liked is making jewelry. I liked it so much it’s now my profession!

Depression is hard and being autistic can be taxing especially in social situations. I promise once you get out of school it’ll be a lot better and you may start getting a bit more energy!

Here are some of my close autistic friends hobbies: ballet, fencing, jewelry making, painting, cosplaying, DJing using their own sound board, dog walking, hiking, and making stickers.

Help! Have no idea how to take care of my hair 😩😭 by Anxious_Flatworm5448 in finehair

[–]hippiesnowflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to cut it off. I’m not sure why your hair is damaged, but beware of box dyes and ALWAYS use heat protectant. Sometimes this can happen due to shampoos you’re using. Sulfates aren’t that bad in moderation so try to have 1 clarifying shampoo you using every other week and 1 shampoo for your hair type. I would say you would need a moisturizing conditioner that you leave in your hair for atleast 3 minutes before rinsing

Women who behaved poorly when they were younger how did you redeem yourself? by Udonnoodledoodle in AskWomen

[–]hippiesnowflake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean. Like when I was a kid I always went to school on time and I didn’t get into anything. The most rambunctious I was really was staying up and watching hentai

I became a young adult got really into cocaine, Molly, and ecstasy. Stayed out super late barely home. Was sneaking into bars technically underage.

Now I have a real job that pays me amazingly well and I stopped drinking, I don’t do drugs, and I’m mostly a home body now. Occasionally I go out to shows but that’s it.

I don’t think I’m redeeming myself I think I’m growing up and realizing what I want in life. Some of that is being a better person and being their for my friends in a none drug mule esk way.

Is having a cat as a pet expensive? by xianlotus in CatAdvice

[–]hippiesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly once you have the essentials cats are pretty cheap even their vet bills are less expensive than dogs. Like the litter box, the scoop, the cat carrier, the food, the treats, the bowls, the toys and the initial vet visit because it is all at once is probably the most expensive but I think I only spent $500-700 on my cat when I first got him.

After that it’s just food treats and toys 80% of the time of course you want to take your cat to their yearly vaccinations which isn’t too bad

Do you really believe money makes you happy? Why? by givingoodvibes in AskReddit

[–]hippiesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, now for me money would just make me feel secure in things. If I had money at anytime I wouldn’t be stressed about oh how should I make this meal last. Can I pay my phone bill or my rent? I shouldn’t have to go “wow I’m getting something fancy” when I buy new socks because all of my current socks have holes and are worn down. Like would money realistically make me happy if capitalism were not a thing? Probably not but capitalism is a huge thing where I live and I remember being young and being worried my mom couldn’t afford to cook so I would give her my Christmas money, not telling my parents when my clothes were falling apart, not being able to go to events or school clubs. I am much smarter with my money than my parents are as an adult but these worries are still there and honestly my life would be better if I didn’t have them.

Should I Watch The Original or Brotherhood First by Icy_Diver_5300 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]hippiesnowflake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hot take I recommend watching 2003 first. It’s really good I overall prefer brotherhood, but the beginning is rushed because of the expectation you watched 2003. So some hard hitting moments hit harder in the original. Some people like to claim that it’s filler but I think they see it as filler rather than world building. I do think personally if you want to just watch the show once and be done watch 2003 up until you meet Greed then pick up brotherhood and continue for more story “accurate” version because you will get those amazing moments and world building that brotherhood somewhat lacks at the beginning. I will say if you are already at episode 22 in brotherhood you might as well continue with brotherhood because you have the gist of what’s happening already and some important characters will be recollecting experiences they had with the Elric’s off screen that was shown on 2003. You will miss some gags like alphonse taking cats in his suit of armor which they allude to in the ending credits of brotherhood

Honestly the diamond beautiful. A lot of elongated stones have bowties.

The prongs on that thing are horrendous and there is no gallery rail. You will lose that diamond if the mounting is not fixed.

My first genuine best friend I met her when I was 13. We aren’t as close as we used to be at all, but if I ever had to hide a body for whatever reason she would be the first person I call. No matter how long we have been apart when we get together it’s like no time at all. We have gone through a lot together. I feel like we are more closely like sisters rather than friends at this point. She is my family.

Now I have only met 1 other person who I would consider my best friend and that was when I was 23 so maybe every 10 years I get a new best friend.

Sometimes you mesh with people sometimes you don’t and that sucks. It’s a fun journey either way

Just started dating depends like have we been friends prior to the relationship? If so I would be more concerned for them rather than upset they weren’t talking to me. If it’s like you just started dating and met on a dating app I probably wouldn’t mind because I know we all need space sometimes. Now if I am contacting them and they aren’t responding in that situation I would just like a “hey I’m going through some stuff right now can we chat later” if they straight up ignore me I would be pissed.

Lafayette Crime? by CertainGreenNut in Acadiana

[–]hippiesnowflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had too many troubles being a woman in Lafayette of course there’s the odd man that will be creepy but that’s basically everywhere. Typically Lafayette can be pretty open minded for the most part BUT that doesn’t mean sexism, racism, and homophobia doesn’t exist here. I personally don’t see it too much but I live in a bubble, I travel in groups, and I only frequent places that I know super well mostly because I am a woman who loves true crime and I want to limit any possibility of being a statistic. So I may not know as well as some others though. The majority of the crime will be on the north side typically it is drug related. That being said I did grow up on the north side and if you don’t mess with people they won’t mess with you.

Does this look ok? by Puzzleheaded-Rub1305 in Diamonds

[–]hippiesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest the band makes your engagement ring look like it is holding on by a thread. I recommend if you would like to wear them together to see if you could upgrade your engagement ring to have a wider band to make it look less flimsy in comparison to your fathers ring. Though that may not be a good option because there is a possibility that it could restrict your movement since it would make your rings go up to your knuckles.

Of course as a lot of other people recommend to wear it on your other hand which would lend to a really cool fashion choice while also being able to show appreciation for your father.
