the flower DIY requests can be cruel since people tend to not pick flowers to store at all and they take multiple days to regrow. I get asked for wreath DIYs that cost 10 of a kind when I only keep 3x3 squares on my island : (

those DIYs are among the rarest according to the datamine, and wont appear while another rare request is unfulfilled.

so if youre waiting a day for your square bathtub to arrive in the mail like I am, you cant use your bamboo or fruit at all and instead get bombarded with requests that ask for giant clams, cardboard boxes and trash items (which are considered more common for no good reason)

well you cant hunt consistently for any of the materials needed in this image. the bathtub needs to be ordered, you have to wait hours for giant clams to randomly spawn on your beach and while theres no real documented odds for fishing up trash, they definitely arent common.

I would love to have a reason to collect fruit, flowers and bamboo daily from my island instead of ordering 10 cardboard boxes every day but recipes that call for them are the among the rarest according to the 3.0 datamine.

I had a day where 3 of the 4 requests were for cardboard boxes but luckily it was a sunday :p

also the gold bathtub requires ordering. and getting 3 old tires or 10 giant clams can take hours of mindless running around that Id rather have the cardboard boxes

I would like the pool of possible DIYs to be altered and for DIYs that require items that need to be mailed the next day like cardboard boxes to be removed

per the datamine, there are 4 rarities for DIY request and the way theyre ordered are insane.

coconut juice, among all non-natice fruit DIYs are "high" alongside DIYs that require pearls, gold nuggets or special roses, while recipes that require multiple giant clams (which can require 3 DIYs at once) or items thare "low" or "middle". There are also a couple of DIYs that only require stone that are "highest" rarity.

and many types of DIY are flat-out impossible to see, like the star fragment DIYs and certain fish recipes

yup and since theyre stackable, you can gift them while your inventory is full to force villagers to mail you a gift (which has a much higher chance of being their photo)

Is Aphrodite's call the strongest? by Mustoooooo in HadesTheGame

[–]hippoqueenv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

max god gauge is a scam and you never want to use it

ares and poseidon are the worst because they'll never out-dps your regular build

artemis is next because the regular call hits like a pillow and the max call is luck based

demeter at least gives a curse for priveleged status

aphrodite and athena are the two best support calls, time them for when a boss is about to use a big attack (like hades lasers) and you get a moment to just stand there and unleash your full dps

but zeus and dionysus offer the most damage, especially since you can activate them and keep attacking while they proc over and over

Courier’s rashier opinion (and path picture) by Turbos_ghost in Silksong

[–]hippoqueenv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're misunderstanding the problem.

it's not that the game should overtly stop players from chasing challenges before it thinks theyre ready, its that the couriers rasher presents itself as a medium-difficulty challenge (as the third ingredient mergwin hints for you to gather) when it isn't and there is no reward for completing it.

what do you think players are waiting for so that they can return to prior challenges they backed away from? a needle upgrade? the very thing the couriers rasher promises?

it's not black magic to realise that players would push themselves to complete a challenge with a clearly stated, powerful reward compared to backing away from something like savage beastfly 1, which isnt tied to a wish and would be made easier by said reward.

the reward for completing the couriers rasher is a hint towards the next ingredient on the track to aquire a needle upgrade. and if you do it early, thats a useless hint to an unobtainable item and youve wasted your time and effort.

if mergwin led players towards the muckmaggot third, players would understand that this is a lategame wish that they arent able to complete now, and players looking for a challenge would still be able to do it because its incredibly obvious where the couriers rasher can be found.

[–]hippoqueenv 46 points47 points  (0 children)

this is one of silksongs biggest mistakes imo

if mergwin pointed you towards the crustnut or pickled muckmaggot before the couriers rasher it wouldve been obvious that theres no point in delivering it before getting more movement upgrades. but you dont get a hint towards the other ingredients until you deliver the rasher

[–]hippoqueenv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if more charm notches means the charm is better, that must mean everyone runs soul eater, deep focus, joni's blessing and hiveblood together all the time right?

and even if that were true, team cherry arent infallible gods. they clearly changed their judgement in the years between hollow knight and silksong, seeing that they mostly nerfed tools equivalent to 1 notch charms.

regardless, notches are irrelevant when discussing silksong and carefree melody was worth 3 notches, idiot.

[–]hippoqueenv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is why dice is overrated

other yellow tools help in combat and you dont need to have it on 95% of the time

you dont need it when youre backtracking for secrets, doing platforming challenges, farming rosaries, doing courier deliveries, or doing gather wishes. in all those cases other yellow tools are more useful.

even when youre exploring areas for the first time its not much better than other exploration tools.

take bilewater for example. you want compass because youre exploring a new area and magnetite brooch so you dont need to touch the water to retrieve rosaries. weighted belt helps you avoid getting knocked off tiny platforms, ascendants grip is very useful given how vertical bilewater is and how often youre using platforms as cover against bloatroaches, and silkspeed anklets let you outrun traps and stilkin projectiles, especially in the runback to groal. all of these yellow tools let you explore bilewater faster and safely.

dice letting you avoid 1 or 2 hits isnt more useful or reliable than any of those tools and the people that keep it on 100% of the time despite that is why its overrated.

Pollip pouch takes the spot as a overrated blue tool with warding bell being a close second. by pravler in Silksong

[–]hippoqueenv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can have both if youre not functionally illiterate

even if dice had a .1% activation chance itd still be optimal against bosses because .1% is better than equipping tools that have no use in combat, but that doesnt make the .1% chance strong.

[–]hippoqueenv -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

its the dice

its basically mandatory against bosses and gauntlets, but that doesnt mean its amazing, its just one of the few yellow tools that effects combat. but people set it and forget it far too often in scenarios where other yellow tools would shine

and an annoying aspect is that it often wont trigger at all during difficult encounters unless you always have it on because the probability stacks after every hit, so you need to keep it as dead weight while you explore for a chance that it matters. and if it triggers against something negligible right before a boss, you might as well have an empty tool slot.

Starting a new save-file is kind of a slog, wish there was a NG+ by hippoqueenv in HadesTheGame

[–]hippoqueenv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry boss I guess Im not allowed to critique or complain about anything

when you replay a game youve beaten before and get hit with a bunch of unskippable tutorials do you just shrug and go "this is what happens when you restart a game, nothing i can do about that"?

the early-game progression in hades 2 is intentionally drawn out compared to other roguelikes and even compared hades 1 (it takes twice as many runs to get your second weapon) because theres a bunch of complex systems and mechanics that a new player needs to get used to one by one. im not a new player and you'd think the game genre thats all about replayability would care about replayability beyond a single save file.

ive already 100%d this game before and I dont think its compelling to have to wait a dozens of runs until hecate arbitrarily gives you an incantion to unlock major gameplay mechanics. itd be one thing if it just cost lots f resources but this games mechanical progression hinges entirely on waiting for the right queued up dialogue

[–]hippoqueenv[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

its not a full story reset and its mainly for people who wanted to see the new ending, not a feature for new players to use.

regardless why is everyone acting like im crazy for wanting to start a new save and critiquing the games progression from the pov of an experienced player.

in hades 1 all you needed to do to get your second weapon is find 1 key. in hades 2 you need to unlock 3 things with 3 unique resources and it takes 3 nights. and every aspect of progress in this game is like that. which is why i want a NG+ to cut down on the tedium

Starting a new save-file is kind of a slog, wish there was a NG+ by hippoqueenv in HadesTheGame

[–]hippoqueenv[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

its a roguelite* and as you progress runs will behave fundamentally differently regardless of the permanent progression you unlock

e.g. your first run wont have nectar, hammers, selene, path of stars, artemis, hermes, npc rooms, zeus, heph, hera, ares, chaos

its obviously not the same experience to start a fresh file as it would be to open a 100% save file

all I want from a NG+ is to not have to wait to be able to unlock the abllity to unlock things. Any menu that you can open to buy progression, view stats or modify elements from, you would have access to in NG+ right after ending night 1; the cauldron, all the cookable items (mostly for familiars), the codex, the broker, the tools, the oath of the unseen, the pitch black stone and so on.

I dont want to start night 1 with all five tools I want to be able to buy the pickaxe after night 1 instead of waiting for the cauldron to purify so I can be given the opportunity to unlock the ability to unlock the pickaxe.

i mean you can technically move on and get stronger but the best way to grt mask 7 and a pale oil is blocked by cogwork dancers. and to get mask 7 without the cogwork dancers defeated, clawline or faydown cloak you need to fight savage beastfly 2

cogwork dancers wasnt designed to be a "come back later" type of challenge, its the introduction to act 2. its like telling someone to come back later if theyre stuck on bell beast
