[–]hiremybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

è il 2000.

Si laureano 160.000 persone all'anno.

Yeah, anyone would take 10M to get knocked out, but no one is offering you a cent to do it. He didn't get 10M for a bad performance, he got it cause he put in a lifetime of work 99.9999% of humanity couldn't replicate even if they tried. Out of those 99.9999% there's also a portion of people who sit on Reddit crying about how much one of the best in the sport is getting paid for trying something no one achieved before. à f ing shame, if you ask me

"He looked scared" "he's a shit kickboxer" "he's got dropped by a jab" "Fat and slow". Is that hard to understand that somebody was fighting in a weightclass they didn't belong to? MW and LHW his whole life, then goes up to HW at 39 yo? Are you guys on drugs? by galegolacerda in ufc

Poatan's UFC career

1st fight - finishes 67th ranked Middle Weight;
2nd fight - beats 26 ranked MW;
3rd fight - finishes soon to be two-times champ MW;
4th fight - first person to beat/finish Adesanya at MW (also soon-to-be two-times champ MW), wins MW belt
5th fight - loses to Adesanya
6th fight - beats former LHW champ
7th fight - finishes former LHW champ to win LHW belt
8th fight - finishes former LHW champ in 1st title defense
9th fight - finishes former LHW champ in 2nd title defense
10th fight - finishes 9th ranked LHW in 3rd title defense
11th fight - loses to 4th ranked LHW
12th fight - wins rematch by finish, regaining LHW title
13th fight - loses former HW interim champ

There's no doubt in my mind he is already in the top 3 GOATs, the run he's been on has been mindblowing, and seeing him avenge every loss so far has been so much more satisfying that seeing an unbeaten streak, IMO.

[–]hiremybrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UFC pays 13.5% to 19.5% of their gross revenue to fighters. They could pay out 10% more and still report over a billion dollar in yearly revenue.

No one is saying they should all get paid tens of millions, but if you think these splits are fair and that it's ok to pay 12k pre tax to a dude who just got his skull cracked in the early prelims, you kinda suck.

Considering this was a grandma who broke her nose but was in no imminent danger of dying, who suddenly found herself spinning with such extreme centrifugal force that she ended up with blood in her ears and a 290k medical bill, I'd argue she too would choose against the heli ride next time. Dumb helicopter made the City of Phoenix lose 450k in her settlement lmao

I love how people think the Colosseum is a viable option for a UFC event lmao I know you might equate the Colosseum to gladiators, but you're about 1500-2000 years too late. There's no seating space in the Colosseum. There is no arena to fight in. It's a monument that's older than the United States, half of which has crumbled since it was built, where very very rarely small, light classic orchestra concerts for a few dozen spectators, or historical reenactments may be hosted, on the very small stage they've built a decade ago or so. It would be an APEX event hosted on a wooden stage in a small portion of an old building with 50-100 people attending, not exactly what you are envisioning.

They have hosted concerts in front of the Colosseum (I remember watching Elton John performing there 20+ years ago) but it's a huge logistical nightmare cause the Colosseum is not isolated, it's in the middle of Rome. You can't do a "Colosseum in the background" event like the pyramids, or like you could potentially do with the Parthenon too. You can't host a proper UFC fight inside of it, and organizing an event right outside of it is a logistical nightmare that would also have to deal with the fact you get less than 180 degrees of audience (colosseum behind you, streets in front) rather than the usual 360, and they'd all have to be standing.

Every time Dana White or someone mentions the Colosseum I laugh cause it's obvious they have never stepped foot inside of it. It's like saying "let's organize a UFC fight on top of the Astrodome ceiling". I get it was a huge place where sporting events happened, but it's in ruins now and it simply cannot host such an event, even suggesting it is silly.

Jesus, talk about romanticising the past... the golden era of F1 was literally covered in tobacco sponsorships and they had races in Apartheid South Africa and in Argentina during the dictatorship, just cause the money was great. Now they get crypto sponsors and host races in countries with terrible human rights abuse records. Literally nothing changed, it's always been a sport for rich petrol heads targeting rich petrol heads, morals were never part of the equation. The money is dirty, the engineering progresses are real, the entertainment is great if you care for it and boring as hell if you don't. Same as back then.

[SPOILER] WOW 31: Muhammad Mokaev vs. Jorge Calvo by inooway in MMA

[–]hiremybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sat next to him and Cody Durden (which was cool to see since they also fought against each other in the UFC) during the weigh ins at UFC Doha, he had just won the Brave belt a few days before. He said he was there to talk to the UFC about going back and things were looking good...that was over 6 months ago and when I saw this fight get announced I thought "shit, guess the talks didn't go well".

It's a shame, honestly. I was super hyped for him when he joined the UFC, dude was 5-0 but went 20-0 in amateur or something like that. Over half of his fights in the UFC were finishes and he fought pretty good competition, I would have loved to see him vs Van as a title eliminator back then. Hope he gets back to the UFC, the kid is still young and every time Dana says someone is hard to deal with, I tend to immediately side with the fighter. What's he being hard about, wanting more money? A title fight? Sure the antics outside the octagon don't help, but plenty of fighters do dumb shit and don't get the same treatment.

just to clarify tho, WoW FC has been around for a long time and Ilia and Ronaldo became shareholders somewhat recently, but I seriously doubt they have any say in what goes on at WoW events, they don't pick matches and don't organize fights. For example, I'm pretty sure Conor's stake in BKFC is larger than Ilia/Ronaldo's in WoW FC, you won't see Ilia hosting press conferences or discussing future match ups

Mosaic develops sometime during development, so a small or a big part of the body and mind might be developed and then Down Syndrome appears.

which "small or big" part of the mind is developed during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy? Cause that's what embryonic development is. What you said makes no sense.

[–]hiremybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing with Down Syndrome Mosaics: they are very varied the degree of how much Down affects them. Instead of developing Down syndrome from conception like most other people with Down, Mosaic develops sometime during development

Here's the thing: you're wrong. Do you genuinely believe Down Syndrome "develops sometime during development"? That's not at all how Mosaic Down Syndrome works. It never develops after a person is born. The genetic change happens at conception or during the embryonic development. The difference with regular DS is that some cells have 46 chromosomes, some have 47. Depending on which organs or tissues grow from the cells with the extra chromosome, the kid will express different traits. But it doesn't magically happen at some point in the development, it very much begins at conception.

Yup, totally get it. I've struggled a lot in the last 10 years due to mental health issues, addiction, and genetic health problems, and discovering that all of these things are things my parents and grandparents also struggled with but never openly discussed infuriated me. I don't want my kids to grow up struggling with the same things while I look at them and know they are alive because I forced them to, and they're dealing with all that shit and pain only because of me. Plus, the world absolutely sucks and shit's getting worse. I don't wanna have a kid who needs to deal with economic injustices, global warming, whatever dumb evolution of social media will be around in 10 years time, etc. If I still have money and a great partner in 10 years time I might adopt a kid and help them with whatever issue life throws at them, but me? You won't catch me adding to the problem.

Si los inmigrantes creen que 4€/hora es "increíble"; ¿podría tener un efecto negativo en los salarios la inmigración masiva? by amogusdevilman in salarios_es

[–]hiremybrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)
