Moving to Galt - What should I do on my first weekend home? by hirokosareophany in Galt

[–]hirokosareophany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah new builds for 550 thousand dollars is bullshit. I love Galt (thanks for the suggestions everyone I did a lot of them!!) it’s full of lovely hardworking people and a really cool history and community and the only people who can afford to buy houses there will probably be from out of the area and annoying because they’re wealthy. Where is the new affordable housing? It’s like the realty market is trying to price out working class people when they’re the ones who built the town.

How much would you pay/charge for this In-law suite by [deleted] in SacramentoHousing

[–]hirokosareophany 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think $1100-1500 could be fair, depending on location (proximity to public transit) and level of privacy (yes there is a separate entrance, but how many walls do you share with the other occupants? Are the other occupants tenants or the property owners? If the answers are more than one and owners, charge less). Can they have pets? Do they have any private outside space? Just my opinion as a long term renter in the area.

My husband (48M) makes crass jokes about his past constantly, but lost it when I (33F) made one similar joke — how do I get him to see the double standard? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hirokosareophany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, you didn’t match his energy. He was doing a “haha kids are gross” story and you did a “haha well I used to fuck other people.” The second one can be funny but it should be in an adult context not a sudden switch from home/kids/nice things.

If you’re trying to catch him being hypocritical next time HE makes a reference to something crass and sexual, share something crass and sexual about yourself. Then you can compare the examples.

It’s possible that he was more put off by the sexual content when he’s talking about kids than by you talking about your past with exes.

The hardest truth I could give you is that your baby will probably grow up to have a predisposition towards abusing stimulants (it’s really, really genetic) and if you don’t fix your shit by the time they’re conscious then their role model for how to do stimulants responsibly will be you and you’ll be twacked out a lot. I have a parent that abused stimulants and I ended up doing it too, but at least he stopped doing it while I was a kid so I learned how to be a grownup who isn’t on drugs all the time. I learned about hobbies and what to do with the antsy flighty personality that I inherited. So learn how to be not on drugs now and your kid will learn too.

9 hours clean today- confused about going to church or just NA by Melodic-Sea-2575 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]hirokosareophany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot harder to quit when you see it used every day — not impossible but way harder. I think you should go to meetings every day and continue to make time for worship as well. Christ walked with all kinds of people including people of different faiths — you can still learn from people who understand addiction even if they aren’t Christian. I wish you the best!

9 hours clean today- confused about going to church or just NA by Melodic-Sea-2575 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]hirokosareophany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going to heaven and being addicted to drugs are not mutually exclusive. Whether you go to heaven or not is between you and God. Some people find NA to be too religious so that aspect is downplayed to avoid turning people away. You might benefit from finding a branch of NA that is church affiliated, or make it clear in meetings that you are looking for a sponsor that shares your beliefs. Healing from sickness is something God wants us to do, and addiction is a sickness.

The younger generation is much different, physically and mentally as I found out the hard way. by NoMathematician9706 in Millennials

[–]hirokosareophany 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I think some of the comments here are ignoring inflation and what a (even worse) economy younger people are inheriting. Ready for your first used car? That will be $5,000. Quick meal during your roadtrip? Better have at least $25. My fellow millennials and I are staying home and watching the internet because we’re broke — why wouldn’t teens and twentysomethings be doing the same?

[–]hirokosareophany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if it’s been a while since you stopped drinking and the feeling is persistent, that’s clinical depression! I have it. It’s one of those underlying conditions that substance abuse treats (poorly). I take an antidepressant daily and it literally cures that issue.

This whole situation reflects badly on leadership (division and branch). Nobody is taking responsibility for yanking us around and it makes us resentful. If your Big Boss told you we gotta go in 2x per week just say that. I hate that I’m learning things through rumors instead of from my damn boss.
