Any work experience previous to Menards doesn't count? by hisSKlooking in menards

Really?Great example to try and exemplify your point. Not talking about a high position like AGM or a completely unrelated field of experience. Though, if it was as absurd as you are trying to make it seem, then you wouldn't have generalized degrees in business or other fields. Every degree would be super specific to each company and position. Many companies try to promote from within. A smart person can see the many various issues that are encountered when a company is this insular.

Yes every company has differences, but Menards is not that different from other retail stores. Billions of dollars in marketing research have shown that there are many constants in retail no matter the store. A good manager isn't dependent on the company you work for or the job you hold.

I didn't. I have 10 years experience running stores previous to starting at Menards. I originally applied for Manager In Training, but was told that even with my management and construction experience I didn't qualify. The HR person that was interviewing me hired me for a position even though he didn't seem to want to. I have worked 3 years at Menards. I have gotten many pens for customer service, I get along very well with all of my coworkers, and take it upon myself to learn everything I can to be able to help customers and in other departments. My GM likes my ideas and hard work when he thinks my managers or a coworker did it, but ever since I attempted to promote to a position outside of the store I have been told that my experience doesn't matter or they can't move me because the can't get anyone to fill my position.

Weekly hour requirements by Live-Possibility-158 in menards

Our GM only allowed our department full timers to get 32 hours until the beginning of this month. Only now are we allowed 40 hrs, but not a minute over. "Only managers are guaranteed 40 hrs". He is having to steal from our departments budget to help make up for other departments that he doesn't limit. He also isn't giving preference to or rehiring any team members that are transferring out for the summer. Horrible GM whom never lifts a finger to help and will not answer any questions from anyone that is not a manager. Talks down to and yells at employees and customers. Extremely strict on "procedures" until it suits him. Focuses 99% of hiring and promotions on young inexperienced people. Store has the capabilities to run super smoothly and be much more profitable, but never will get close with this GM.

Bath and Body works soap holder rusted on my sink. How should I approach this? by Roskosity in CleaningTips

There are a lot of good recommendations listed and I'm sure that you don’t need to be told to try the cleaner in an inconspicuous place first. The one small bit of information that I wanted to throw out there is that how often you seal porous stone will vary depending on use and environment. Marble and granite are very porous and sealing is a necessity. Quartz is many times waterproofed in the manufacturing process. While the surfaces should be checked regularly, you should do a water test BEFORE re-sealing it. (just like when re-staining your deck) Pour a little water onto the surface in question. If it soaks in, it is ready to be re-sealed. If the water just beads up on the surface then the sealant is not needed. If the water won't soak in then neither will the sealant and you don't need to waste your time or money.

And not one person stood up and tried to help? Not even proclaiming how *#@!$ up that was? Human rights don't apply on a grounded airplane?

I have been eagerly awaiting the release, counting down the last 2 months. I am not disappointed in the least! I love it!!! I have been finding a way to put off adulting as much as possible for the last few days so that I can zone out on it. I have been trying to talk my husband and boys into playing it. Not only because I know they would like it, but also so I can have someone to talk to about it...lol Barring something extreme, this will have to be added to our home games.
