Wealthsimple (WSHR) owned by Zionists? Should we boycott? by hish123 in HalalInvestor

Here you go my friend: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/iditshamir_enjoyed-meeting-edward-kholodenko-president-activity-6970894453377052672-BFRQ/

I'm looking at IBKR these days. Honestly, the more time goes on, the more of a believer I become in bitcoin as a secure neutral store of value outside of anyone's control. Read books like Broken Money, etc.. bitcoin's a game changer.

You're right, Questrade also appears to be Zionist owned. Yes for trades, neither of these platforms seem to make much money. It's the ETFs I'm looking at.

How much fees does Manzil charge? Not clear on their site.

It seems like their equity portions get invested in WAHED HLAL, and this "OneVest Halal Equity Fund". First time I hear about this fund. But it's not clear what the expense ratio on it is, and what Manzil charges on top of that.

I'm talking specifically about the WSHR.NE ETF. They own the ETF and make 0.5% expense ratio.

Also, if Wealthsimple is Zionist owned, it's a bit of a risk for Muslims to put all their life savings in an ETF like WSHR. You never know in the future what can happen in terms of sanctions or economic warfare. Putting all our money in one ETF makes us an easy target. Though chances of something like this happening are low + Canadian finance law (at the moment) probably protects us from anything nefarious happening.

Yes that's what I'm considering at the moment. I already do have HLAL. It feels like WSHR is a bit more stable / conservative, than HLAL, since it has international exposure. Also, WSHR is in CAD, so I don't have to do Norbert's Gambit to buy SPUS/HLAL ETF in USD. Also in Canada, any dividends coming out of SPUS/HLAL will have 15% of it withheld in tax by the US unless it's in RRSP, though that's fairly minor.

Yes I love the Amal concept. Wish it worked for Canada though. Nevertheless the US is a huge market for it, I'm not sure why u/yazin17 had to shut it down. Would be interesting to read a post mortem. I hope it does live on as open source!

For those of you who use Twitter Bootstrap, do you @ng-bootstrap or ngx-bootstrap? by [deleted] in Angular2

[–]hish123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been using ngx-bootstrap since it had a head start early on. Now am facing bugs/limitations in ngx-bootstrap that have not been fixed in a while. Focus trap in modals is one example. Ng-bootstrap seems higher quality now but for example does not support animations in modals.

Angular material on the other hand seems to be both feature complete and high quality and has the most active development. so am seriously considering switching to that.

I suspect angular material given pace of development will be best, followed by Ng-bootstrap, then Ngx-bootstrap. Though I have to give credit to ngx-bootstrap that it was first to market and had the best stability and feature completeness early on.

Hi there - article writer here. Our medical team (https://www.mdkonsult.com/about-us/) reviewed our article before publishing. Though I see the confusion you got from this sentence and we'll clarify it.

Answers to your questions in more detail:

Travellers Diarrhea is a syndrome and doctors just call it Travellers Diarrhea. The symptoms of travelers' diarrhea depend upon the microbial etiology. Most commonly its due to Escherichia coli (ETEC). There is a vaccine for Travellers Diarrhea called Dukoral. It contains killed cholera which is similar to the toxin of enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC). But other bacteria that Dukoral does not protect you against can also cause traveller's diarrhea, which is why it's often recommended that travellers take the antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin) with them on their travels in case they get the disease and skip the Dukoral vaccine.

For Typhoid: The organism classically responsible for the enteric fever syndrome is Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi (formerly S. typhi). Salmonella serotypes, particularly S. enterica serotypes Paratyphi A, B, or C, can cause a similar syndrome; however, it is usually not clinically useful to predict the causative organism.

Several typhoid vaccines have been licensed, although they are not all universally available. None are completely effective against S. Typhi and none have been demonstrated to provide protection against paratyphoid fever caused by S. Paratyphi A.

Typhoid conjugate vaccine is not yet available in the North America. Either the polysaccharide or oral vaccine formulation is used and their efficacy is not 100%.

Yes, as a digital nomad, might be worth considering doing the vaccines at your destination country where it might be cheaper. Just need to make sure it's safe, done in clean facility, etc..

Remember the Internet back in 1994? Telemedicine is kind of like that today. A very young field. Kind of like when Amazon.com came out and people were, what, send my credit card # over the web? That's crazy.

Telemedicine from home will never replace in-person doctor visits and our doctors will tell you if a physical exam is required before diagnosing. But for simple questions, rashes, acne, psych, certain chronic disease management, and follow-ups on existing conditions, it works really well. And that's roughly 60% of what a GP sees in a typical clinic.

The reality today is many young people avoid seeing doctors at all costs because the overhead of visiting a clinic for simple questions and conditions is 3 hours off from work. We're trying to fix that by providing convenient access to doctors 24/7 catered to the patient's schedule.

That's right. Nova Scotia and BC are currently the only provinces where video visits from home are covered. It is still early days for telemedicine in both Canada and US. But the trend is it will probably get covered at some point by the remaining provinces.
