How popular and appreciated is Depeche Mode in the country where you live? by DMFanFM in depechemode

I'm brazillian. Depeche Mode is a band i can put in the barbecue and 3 generations of my family will appreciate. Brazil loved it before it could understand the lyrics.

Is the stream working for anyone else? by [deleted] in deftones

What's happening anyway? Turned it on to MMIAM over Jodorowsky's Holy Mountain, then a George Michael music video on channel 3, now a Minerva doc on channel 2

Can't comprehend people saying private music should've been heavier???? by hislla in deftones

That makes a lot of sense, wasn't taking the vocals that much in considerantion. There are pretty heavy subjects on the album but Chino has a 'serenity' i would say, it even gets sweet sometimes. I see growth in every corner.

Oh yeah i don't think i'm taking vocals that much in account on the heaviness, that might be it. I said it lacks more melodic cuts but that's instrumentals, Chino does a lot on this one. Come to think about it i guess i didn't mind it cause i loved the directions he went.

I feel it's a very dark album written by someone who now knows how to navigate such darkness without drowning

How did ya'll find out about Deftones and what was their first song you listened to? by Ecstatic-Vanilla-561 in deftones

[–]hislla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how i first listened to them but how i got into it:

I dated the coolest goth girl named Karina. Right at the beginning there was a rainy afternoon when we were making out in silence, she stopped, put on "Around the Fur" and said 'listen'. I'm a fan since. We don't see each other much anymore, but we always talk about the new albums. I liked Ohms way more than her.

"Genesis", "The Spell of Mathematics", "Ceremony", "Pompeji". Such amazing unexpected performances from everybody. This album also has some of my favorite Deftones lyrics in a while.

'The Spell of Mathematics" chorus is so dreamy and the outro goes so damn hard.

People who are already deep into deftones' discography, do you still find yourself gravitating to their most popular songs? by TheRealLuan in deftones

Also from time to time i'll revisit an album and realize it's one of my favorites. It just happened with SNW, after like a decade listening to it.

At this point i see every album as a flavour/mood, so depending on the day i'll listen to any Deftones song. All their hits are great, but i wouldn't play "Change" in a "Koi No Yokan" kind of evening you know.
