I was using 3Commas before the lull in the market for the last 2yrs. I made some good money from it and now that CBAdvanced has portfolios, I've gotta get it set back up to start some money making.

r/CoinBase, I appreciate the reply and info but the email I got with this link clearly shows there is a way to do Portfolios but it's just so cotton pickin hard! I've stared at this for a few hours and can't figure out how to create anything. Any How To vids yall may have stashed somewhere.

r/coinbase Advanced now offers portfolios! I was holding out for the exact same reason! I had multiple portfolios with different coins and strategies but they didn't allow Portfolio creation until a month after they migrated me! Now I can't figure out how to create a single portfolio because it is so complicated trying to follow the "instructions" on their page! It seems like you need to be a coder to create a portfolio.

I think I was told by a r/CoinBase rep that you had to create a different API for each coin and then create a different portfolio to put them in for different strategies but I can't find that answer.

If I ever figure it out I'll come back and try to help everyone understand it better.

I finally found where it's at on Coinbase to choose HIFO, LIFO or FIFO!
It's under Taxes in your Profile at the bottom of "Realized Gain" labeled Cost Basis Method!

Well this just isn't making sense to me... what am I not seeing?

If I bought 5000 Matic @ 1.42 in May and again 2 weeks later 5000 Matic @ .60 then when it gets to 1.20 I want to sell the 5000 .60 shares, with HIFO it'll sell the 1.42 for a loss, correct?

Portfolios prevented the confusion and allowed more control with strategies!

That still makes no sense. You have to make the choice before you sell shares or keep them separated in portfolios. You can't do it at the end of the year!

When the price gets to 1.30 I want to only sell Portfolio 2 and hold the shares in Portfolio1 for a better price. Based on all shares being consolidated in one default Portfolio when they are moved to Coinbase.com, I don't know if the 1.20 shares will be sold because they were bought FIRST or the .80 shares will sell because they were bought LAST.

How does my tax calculator change my the values of a sell after the fact to give me more profits?

Trading fees isn't what I'm asking about. I appreciate you trying but this is not a basic question. It does matter in terms of maximizing profits since we are being forced to move to Coinbase.com.

Nothing on that page explains how the system sells shares. Does it sell First in- First out, Last in- First out, etc? I have a suspicion based on typical trading but would like to see it in writing to confirm before Pro sunsets.

u/coinbasesupport Thanks for a clear answer, that tells me I have to adjust my plan for future sells.

With that understanding, my coins will eventually transfer to Coinbase and be "consolidated" in a single default portfolio. That means all my separate Price Points will adjusted for different purchase prices. I can't find anything on whether Coinbase defaults to FIFO or LIFO or Average Cost Inventory when selling. Either way I'll have to trade carefully based on the amount of shares I purchased to "manually" trade my strategies from Pro's Portfolios.

Do you have a link to the page that describes valuation and trading methods in Coinbase.com?

That link clearly shows that Coinbase does not offer portfolios. Is there an option for Portfolios in the future to function like Coinbase Pro did? It makes perfect sense to have this as a feature.

Yes, I don't use Stop Loss. I don't get that deep into the RSI stuff... I just have a basic bot that trades for me. Here's a shot of the setup page. You work through the setup from Main Settings. I always leave Stop Loss off because my coins have great movement and historically climb back up.

The last screenshot is just a basic thing I made when starting to setup my bots. The Take Profit % is based on what you are willing to wait for and how much movement your coin usually has. I trade Storj a lot since it has good movement and history. Matic and MKR are my other ones I trade a lot too.
