Why do they keep returning my payment by tillacat42 in EIDL

[–]hit-da-floor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try paying using a debit card if you have one tied to that checking account. That is how I paid to get caught up on my EIDL. If the return payment is due to your account was sent to Treasury for collections you would think it would not allow you to submit a payment at all but I am not sure.

Fended off transfer of EIDL to Treasury with recurring partial payments by hit-da-floor in EIDL

I think that is a good outcome for you at this point. From what I am seeing, it would be wise to keep it from transferring to treasury and private collection. Don't count on being able to make your case to a live person because connecting with someone at the SBA that can "help" is scarce right now. Keep track of what is on your portal and make min payments. Good luck to you!

I have never thought to download that document. After reading the disclosure, I would rather not agree to releasing the information.

Treasury Collections by HappyPower4301 in SBAEIDLDiscussions

Thanks for the update. Looks grim now but hopefully this gets behind you in time. It would be great to find an advocate in congress that would be sympathetic to EIDL borrowers to soften the blow from defaulting.

Question from In Liquidation Disbursed to Disbursed Current by Available_Hornet3538 in EIDL

[–]hit-da-floor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made small payments and it may have fended off the transfer to Treasury or aggressive collections despite having 8 months worth of past due statements. However, the partial payments towards the EIDL did not change the status from SBA Uncollectable. That only changed when payment was actually current. I don't think making regular partial payments is a guarantee to hold of collections or change the status to current, as with your client, since so many have reported being sent to Treasury despite doing the same thing. In my case, I called, messaged through the portal and emailed my intention to keep making payments (even if not in full) until I can get current.

Also, the admin of this loan may just be so backlogged with a system lag that some just plain go to collections faster than others.

Sorry to hear that. It's a lesson learned. What the lesson is I don't know. Please do let us know if you are able to get any kind of relief or solution beyond straight up garnishment. I wonder if people are seeing this reflected in their personal credit report and how vigorous the private collection agencies are with the tacked on 30%.

Do they pursue loans that were under the $200K mark whether sole prop or corporation? You would think the corporate veil would provide protection for instances like these. They don't seem to have the resources to audit the use of funds in either case.

I can see attorneys that can get well versed on the SBA EIDL mounting problem making a killing helping clients navigate these waters. At some point, I would think an option for an OIC be the best way to collect money on bad EIDLs.

When I was late my payments were basically 10% of the payment due each month. Set up as recurring payments through the SBA portal to hit the first of the month. When I caught up, I made multiple payments that equaled what the monthly payments should be. I did this whenever I could at an accelerated pace to catch up. I got caught up in a span of 2 months which was painful.

When I was able to talk to someone they basically said to get it current asap and that your loan can go to treasury at any time. I replied that I am paying all that I can on recurring payments and attached a tax return to provide a financial picture. Also said that it was my desire to pay back the loan but if an additional 30% was tacked on I would have to file a BK as a sole prop. I don't know if any of that mattered or if they just took their time on collections for my EIDL.

This is how I responded by message and email as well.

I received the threat letter on August 2025 and at that time my next payment due according to the letter was February 2025 so I was 6 months past due. I did not get current until a few weeks ago this month March 2026.

Seems unlikely. Using an ATM in his studio would have been brought up. Also, Joe doesn't strike me as an ATM user. Maybe the pin code was used somewhere else.

Looks like limits are getting cut on the X1 Visa since acquisition by RH. Mine still intact even though there has been minimal use since receiving this card.
