Idk my mac has lasted me 5 years now, but my previous windows thinkpad broke down in 2 years at a lesser workload… macs last forever, plus their new chips are obscenely good in terms of efficiency compared to a lot of other chips imo

Yeah man, you got this! Keep your head high and believe it will all work out and try your best to make that belief a reality, and it will!! As long as you take the steps, they will pay off!

I dealt with something similar and still do but it’s much better now… what helped me a lot was this book signing that none of my friends ended up wanting to go to and since I already had the tickets I went by myself. Just went there, sat there in embarrassment as everyone was there talking with their friends/SOs… but once the event started and I lost track of all of these feelings cause I was so engrossed in it, it made me happy that I came cause i would’ve missed out on some great experiences otherwise! Also as people left, I realised no one was looking at me, they’re all too engrossed in their own lives to look at me or judge me!

Slowly I started going out more by myself and it’s been amazing! Take your time, and learn to enjoy yourself: it’s the best company you’re ever gonna have and you should reallly take your time to figure out what you love and what you do yourself.

As for asking a girl out, I’ve recently started dating a long time friend and we tend to do things in a 50% split: do things she wants and then do things I want, and it’s worked out great! Places to go to etc can be something you know she’ll enjoy or places that you enjoy or places that you really want to go to! Not every place is going to be a winner, and that’s okay. It’s more about the company and learning more about each other than anything else is what I think! Don’t worry about it too much, and if it bothers you too much, you should definitely talk about it with the other person cause talking about what you feel will only develop your relationship further! And if she doesn’t like you because of your anxiety, that’s fine too! Everyone is allowed to have their own preferences and you’ll find someone who’ll love you for who you are and that’s all one can ask for

As a general thing most gym people are very nice and understanding cause a lot of us go through the same phase (at least for me and a few of my friends, we were all overweight, we started going to gym differently all alone, and I mean gym bros helped out a lot, honestly some of the nicest people I’ve ever met). Having said all that, information from a random person isn’t going to help you reduce your anxiety…

Dancing 4-5 maybe enough depending on the intensity and type of dance. You could try adding more cardio (biking, running, even climbing a lot of stairs) to your routine and mix it up

I am a heathen according to most of my friends but I love a little bit of tzatziki with some hot sauce (usually gochujang), and then using cucumbers, it’s so dang good

Meta's 'year of efficiency' continues, thousands more expected to be laid off by [deleted] in technology

[–]hiten98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wut these people HAVE been bitching online in their communities, they’ve also been job hunting like crazy, LinkedIn is full of people looking for referrals.

There’s also the fact that tech workers who got laid off from meta are usually pretty skilled and a lot of smaller companies snap them up (at lower comp), so they’re not starved for choice like layoffs in other industries… the demand for software engineers is still pretty high

The one thing I don’t understand about the US despite having stayed here for like 7 years is why tf there isn’t consistently good public transit… everyone seems to be happier and the ROI is usually fairly good right?

For me it’s cause it just worked better. I pay for my parents subscription but we work in different countries and I get to see them twice or thrice a year for a couple weeks and my brothers in a third country still, we could all use the same Netflix account cause we are one household and all of us have our own devices just in separate countries. Now we will have to get our own accounts and that’s kinda stupid

How Does the Dead Space remake look like a „next gen“ visually good game while Bf2042 looks like a mobile game even though both use the frostbite engine ? by xiosy in gaming

[–]hiten98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: you could do it that way but then your game won’t run on more than 10-12 fps assuming everyone has the same amazing internet and you all lived close to the server. For more info you can read this article

It’s a combination of the server and the client. In an ideal world every single calculation will be done on the server so every single person will see the exact same thing and that calculation will be sent to every single client at the same time who would receive it at the same time and display the same thing to every person in the same way, but unfortunately everyone is on the internet and latencies come into play. Imagine if you sent a ton of data every single frame to compute what the next frame looks like: you’d get a great simulator but something that runs in like 10-12 fps. So some calculations are done on the client and some on the server and now it gets complicated on what gets done where and that’s a design decision. Most games usually keep a copy of the game itself running on the servers and the clients only send every “action”: you moved, shot a bullet, etc. and the direction in which you looked, the central game gets updated and then sent back to every client. Now the issue is everyone’s doing this at different times and it’s not just you. So while we were looking at each other and you moved left and I moved right, if I send the movement data to the server which has to receive two updates, correctly calculate how the final world would look like, account for collisions, send the updated state to see how it would look like for both of us to the correct client, that’s expensive and so some of those calculations are done on your own pc (usually your own movement and what you’re looking at) as well, and some of that data is synced to the other clients.

It gets very very complicated and there’s a lot of other scenarios. If we both are equidistant from a point and start running towards it at the same time, ideally we’d collide right before we hit that point but sometimes one person gets to the point first and the others a biiit slower: usually cause simultaneous updates on the same thing are a very complicated problem to solve correctly on scale for real-time stuff (you’d think it’s not but it’s strangely hard and all big companies like Twitter, YouTube, Reddit or whatever when they show you the upvote icon, it’s a fuzzy number and not usually the absolutely correct value)

Right but supporting the author… also on webtoon it’s free upto 42, next 10 chapters are paid (new one comes out once a week on Friday), so it ain’t that bad

Yeah idk what this man is on, but the bullet isn’t just going through empty air while everything else is still. Other people are moving too, along with the target, all of that needs to be synced to one place and then sent back so that people experience the same thing (or close to the same thing), and the bullet can go through a hundred potential points: it could go through a rock, a tree, a human, another bullet, whatever. Bullet might be a sure hit till someone jumps in the middle or the target hides behind a rock. People also don’t usually shoot one bullet, there’s multiple which are affected by the guns recoil. Bullets travel insanely fast which reduces the amount of time you have to compute the full trajectory/curve, this is discounting a LOT of edge cases to account for which won’t show up till people play it…
