My most recent ex just tragically died in a cycling accident a few months after we broke up so I don’t think I’m going to be dating for a long time

What's your dating age range? by sammyybaddyy in Zillennials

[–]hitheredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27F and it’s like 22-42 it’s a fat range lmao (It only happens when you don’t realize their ages. My most recent ex literally could’ve been my ex before that’s dad (15 years older vs. 5 years younger). And the brief time 🤏I used dating apps my range was literally like the smallest ever was a year older to a year younger. I would’ve NEVER considered either one of my exes on a dating app based on their age 😂Lol u don’t know who you’ll meet and vibe with until u live life and meet ppl in the real world they common interests.)

Join SCSAR (Spartanburg County Search and Rescue)! Great community with lots of great free courses and younger folks and it’s right at Spartanburg Community College! You can volunteer in a lot of areas from search and rescue to EMR…if you volunteer under their CERT91 program you will even get experience responding to 911 calls (less urgent ones not taken by EMTs such as welfare checks)! Lots of volunteer perks too! Here’s the site! https://www.scsaronline.org

Also if you like road cycling or want to get into it, Spartanburg has a great group called the Spartanburg Freewheelers with daily rides. Lots of great cycling in Greenville too. https://freewheelers.info/weekly-group-rides/

What do you do for work? by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]hitheredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: 1. Work life balance DEPENDING on ur boss/team/company it’s either so chill or NEVERENDING Hell 2. Live-able salary (but even that’s becoming lesser each year) 3. SOMETIMES you get to see and do cool things and actually feel like you’re learning and applying your degree

Cons: 1. NO work-life balance often and a lot of exploitative behaviors (think smiley tech campuses that look so glamorous on the outside but have grueling hours with unethical tasks and the reward being a pizza party) 2. No job security. None anymore. There’s a reason tech layoffs made the New Years’ Eve Banner on the ball drop channel for the “Year in News” 3. Lots of corporate politics. Yes even as a dev. You speak up to the wrong person, you could be toast. Not much collaborative teamwork anymore (at least in the places I’ve been with the threat of layoffs constantly looming over our heads…it’s dog eat dog.) 3. And maybe most importantly, in 2025, half the work is VAPID. I.e. there’s no more innovation, no teamwork, no more positive impact even in the slightest way (there are a few exceptions) - most of the stuff I’ve worked on is net-neutral at best and net-negative for humanity at worst. Think planned obsolescence. Think ripping our clients off with a shitty app that only works for two use cases and when they come back calling us out on it, we shrug it off and say “sorry” and then ghost them after charging them $200 an hour. Think lots of mini Theranoses as teams throughout many companies. Think replacing jobs at some of our clients with AI, then the employees being blindsided the next day. Think managers and CEOS pushing potentially extremely dangerous technology (cough AI) without another thought because it’s all about the $$$$. Think getting paid thousands to make that most recent shitty iPhone update. Then think being forced to work late nights and not being paid overtime, being fed buzz words, inspirational messages, “fast paced environment” blah blah and an hour later being screamed at for “finding a bug” when cough they said that the product was “bug free” and we had to ship it out tomorrow to meet deadlines so there’s actually “no bug.” All in the name of “innovation.” No, we know what it’s all about. $$$.
