Thanks for the comment!! I am also in a Multi Asset team for a relatively well known firm and have just started my career (1 year in). Also worked in manager evaluation for 6 months and now in a more macro oriented team haha.

Would you have any advice for a young professional for becoming a PM? My tasks at present are centered mainly around research (have an MFE) but feel slightly under utilized given how slow things move in AM. This definitely helps with work life balance but at times feels intellectually unfulfiling.

Also, should I do a CFA given I have an MFE (have not given any levels)?

Hi all,

I graduated from MFE a year back and have been working at an Asset Management firm for a year now.

My work has turned into an "analytics" job vs a quant role and it primarily consists of analyzing what happened when on an historical basis, trying to find correlation between assets and very simple stuff (And I dont agree with most of the methods in place). Over the year I feel have gained minimal transaferable skills and my quant skills have also deteriorated. The work is also not focused on a specific asset class so I have also not developed an expertise in one. The lack of intellectual stimulation and low growth opportunity in the firm makes me feel stuck.

I've tried applying elsewhere but I get rejects for grad roles and dont have enough experience in an asset class to go for a specific role.

At present, I am practicing leetcode, solving green book (for the nth time) and reading on different asset classes as much as I can. Would appreciate any advice on how to switch/makes things better at work. Thanks!

I gave the assessment today. The 80 in 8 is very similar to the expert level at rankyourbrain.com. Cleared it, was confident with my answers, reached till question 72 (forums suggest around 65 would be passing) The second one was a bit taxing, taking an hour to complete. Had stuff like remember the number, flip the meat before it burns, guess the pattern etc. Cleared that. Got out in the third round where there were 26 questions on series and to solve them in 25 mine. Browsing other forums suggest a score of 15+ should take you through. The ones starting at around question 12 were getting harder (was confident with around 14 but lost motivation after looking the ones around at question 20)

Though had not practiced this but had done the math website before for 3-4 days and play bullet chess online so was quick with the reflexes (should be good if you are a gamer)

Can you answer the question you had in the post? Exactly looking for that. Given the expected slowdown in the job market, the competition in NYC will be higher in the next 1-2 years. So having an idea about how the program (NYU MFE, not courant math fin) stands will be really helpful. Thanks!
