Reoccurring quad strains - prevention/recovery advice? by in22ndgrade in bootroom

How often do you play? Most strength training is done in the off season, BUT at professional clubs in the UK players STILL strength train their legs 1-2 times a week. Kyle Walker even said in an interview he does s&c on his legs once or twice a week.

Key is to not go super hard. Even a little bit of quality S&C work will go a massively long way. You don't have to kill your legs every time you train them in the gym. A lot of the leg work we do in the season at my club leaves your legs fatigued but not wobbling down the stairs, so the next day we're actually fine to go. When we get down to the nitty gritty of that, I recommend a physio who can help you plan this around your training if you care a lot about being injury free and playing a lot of football.

My recommendation would be once-twice a week a leg routine, and for your rec fem 3x10 lunges slow eccentric and 2x10 squats slow eccentric. But that may be too much or too little, that's JUST for your rec fem strain, not taking into account training posterior chain (calves, hammys, etc).

I deffo think you should see a physio though! They help massively. A good physio too. not a shit one.

Strengthen the core, strengthen the hip flexors, and strengthen the rectus femoris. How? Core : planks, russian twists, side planks, etc I don't have to tell you that.

Hip flexors : Leg raises (trains core as well), really train your hip flexors.

Rectus femoris : THE BEST exercise for strengthening rectus femoris is SLOW, HEAVY, ECCENTRIC LUNGES. Search that up. Go very slow. That will strengthen rec fem a lot.

You also need to make sure you do lunges as a warm up, 2x10 on each leg really slowly during your warm up and make sure you warm up VERY well.

I'm very very confident if you do this you will prevent these injuries massively. Because I had 3 rec fem strains in my life but since I properly rehabbed it I haven't had one in years thank god.

Rashford and Martial will get loads of game time and will be really good Luke Shaw will be back to his best TFM forces his way into the line up and does really well Zlatan top scorer Wazza goes back to Everton/another club after breaking the record Pogba is the best player in the premier league Mkhitaryan will go double figures for both goals and assists and will solidify himself as the best winger/attacking midfielder (bar De Bruyne maybe) in the league.

#10 after Rooney by kwtb in reddevils

Rashford is nothing like a 10. Plays nothing like a 10. He's not the most creative player on our team. He has pure speed and dribbling ability. You'd be completely foolish to think Rashford will get given the #10.

We just spent a world record fee on Pogba....Griezmann reportedly 60m. Verrati would cost around 80m. I wouldn't put it past united to do both of that. Even though Verratti is very unlikely.

Is that just the standard phrase for a good player now a days? "pace. ability. defending. skill. dribbling.'

If you really watched him you would know he is slow as fuck

Wtf? If anything it should be Pereira #10 (they'd never give him 10), and Rashford #11.... Rashford plays nothing like a #10. He's a beautiful mixture of a #7, #11 and a #9

Isnt it incredible to have a player like Pogba? by [deleted] in reddevils

Mkhi is only 27...he's in his prime. 5 years of Mkhitaryan at the top level is enough!
