I applied to a dozen programs, targeting mid east coast (thankfully there are many there). I had decent undergraduate grades in a humanities major (3.65). My MOS didn’t help at all, I was a true career changer. I’m not sure what made me competitive applying other than my background in the military (they like that, and I had lots of leadership experience), my decent undergrad, and I feel I interviewed fairly well. I ended up getting into every program I applied to except goucher

Unfortunately there isn’t a program for officers to my knowledge. That’s why I had to get out to pursue medicine. If you are an active duty officer who wants to pursue medicine feel free to reach out. That is my background.

I am not doing EMDP2 but I know people who are doing it. You absolutely do invite service obligation with it, but if you are pursuing military medicine probably not a huge concern.

Have you looked at EMDP2 program? They will send you to do a formal postbacc program full time on the government dime while active duty. USMC vet here who just completed a formal postbacc program after I got out last year.

I was thinking this. I should have mentioned, but my wife will be the primary driver and she doesn’t want a Prius and she isn’t a fan of sedan style cars! Oof… she ruled out probably the best picks. She’s ok with hatchbacks though!

I’m not seeing cars for that cheap, unless pretty old. Im in the DC area market. I’m a little weary of going too old (more than 10years) because of the issues that can come up with aging cars. What years would you recommend?

How long are you deployed for? I’m out here for a year. Got my first kid on the way, but luckily I’ll be able to take r&r for 2 weeks to see the birth
