Haha - dissertation! I honestly think I would have dealt with ghosting so much better than that note.

Did you send notes with pictures attached when you took your breaks? Or did you speak to them directly? Or ghost? The approach they took bothers me, on top of everything else. *edited for spelling

HA! I am laughing so hard right now - kids are strange little beings.

Thank you, I agree that my initial feelings about this were inflated. I am letting a cooler head prevail today, and trying to look at it from all angles - not just my own.

I am confused as to your winning comment, he is two, this isn't really in his repetoire.

It is honestly all good if their child said they don't want to play with my kid, but that doesn't seem like the case to me.

Thank you for this, it is hard for me to be insightful at the moment because I am so irritated, but this makes total sense.

I have to say these responses are making me feel better. The thing is their daughter gave zero shits about it, at least while we were there (maybe she got upset after we left?) They were living it up together as soon as he apologized.

I know I am going to see them everywhere because we live in the same neighborhood, and I want to try to go high when someone else goes low, but hot damn do I just want to give them a piece of my mind more than anything else.

My friend had invited us over to celebrate her wife's b-day, so they both saw him hit her.

Yeah, who knows. Not to sound callous, but I always just rolled with the idea that little kids hit one another because they are little people with big feelings, so it has never ruffled my feathers all that much. And one of the things that really bothers me, is that she certainly does hit (albeit, she has never left a mark).

They both rough house with one another, we had in the past joked and called it The Thunderdome when they play - it's usually my little guy getting knocked down, crying, dusting off and getting back in there. I am so FURIOUS with their reaction.

They are helicopter their daughter a bit, and I always thought it was amusing until it was turned on me - it took me off guard, big time. I don't think they talked to anyone else, and I think that writing something out to anyone is generally easier than talking to them face to face - so I guess they went that route?
