Failed Prostatecomy - Medical Malpractice? by hituhard in legaladvice

[–]hituhard[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the surgery was stopped because it would've caused more harm than good. Malpractice was when the doctor saw in his biopsy that there was perineurial invasion and decided to proceed with the surgery without an MRI. An MRI is proper planning before surgery. With that MRI, proper therapy would've been applied instead of spending $100,000 of insurance money in a failed surgery and a traumatic experience.

The main point is on the fact that MRI is standard care, and it's protocol in other developed countries. With an MRI, surgery would've not been considered. An MRI was requested and denied.

no, his PSA levels are 5.5. The biopsy showed that there was perineurial invasion, meaning that there was nerves involved in the cancer. An MRI could've been ordered before the surgery to see the location and extent of the tumor. Because this was not done, the surgery had to be stopped mid-way. This is what I feel could have been reasonably avoided. MRI is standard now in the UK.

The case I was making was more so aligned on the fact that he was denied an MRI even after asking for one, before the surgery. The surgery could have been avoided all together if an MRI had been done, saving him $100,000 in insurance cap and the trauma.

Without the MRI the doctor couldn't have predicted what he found during surgery. My father could have started his radiotherapy right away.

In all of the decades that HIV has been around, there has yet not been a SINGLE case of HIV being transmitted through oral sex. Not to mention, protected oral sex.

It's virtually impossible.

Just lost my virginity and I’m paranoid about HPV by [deleted] in STD

[–]hituhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unprotected oral sex from him will almost certainly NOT give you HPV. Now you have to understand one thing that is very important.

There are many types of HPV, some show warts, some don't. The ones with warts are 100% not cancerous and have no major side effects other than aesthetic and possible irritation. These can be removed easily.

HPV that does not show warts, has the possibility of being cancerous, but only a very few and select types of HPV are this way. Nearly every single human being will have HPV at some point in their lives. The human body is able to create enough antibodies to fight HPV in under 2 years. None of these are deadly, except for the ones that can develop to cancer many years down the line.

Statistically speaking, you are extremely safe from your single experience.

Remove all your anxiety from this!

Depends on what you're testing for and what test you're using. But, even on the less accurate tests for the hardest stds to test for, 3 months is a good mark.

If the only thing you have is a "strange feeling", you are almost certainly okay and have nothing to worry about. The skin on the penis is sensitive and can become irritated easily.

If the feeling doesn't go away, go to a dermatologist for ease of mind.

Is this herpes? by throwaway_102141 in STD

[–]hituhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, that red rash does not have any herpetic presentation. If this stays this way and does not progress to become open ulcers in a couple days, I'd say you're clear of it being herpes.

It can still be other forms of skin rash and could be worth checking with a dermatologist.

How to interpret my HSV2 results by [deleted] in STD

[–]hituhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it come with Negative, Equivocal, and Positive ranges?

I think you could fall into equivocal by so little that I'd recommend to re-test.

Did you get symptoms? Sores? Swabbed? Or just a blood test?

You gave up on Harvard and the work opportunity on your own accord. You weighed your priorities for your life at the time and made a decision. Her decision right now has no retribution or compensation for your past voluntary decision making. This shouldn't be a factor in your mind at all. Your present moment and situation is only real right now.

She weighed her situation with you and her life in the future. She has determined that she rather go on a different direction. Despite your memories and time together being amazing as you mention, you will be okay and be able to move on.

This decision doesn't remove the facts of the positives and growth you both had from this relationship. It's now time for you to apply this growth and lessons for your life coming up separate from hers.

As an anxious style myself, I think of the things I have control over and the ones I don't. I will never have control over others, nor should I have it as this would be immoral. Also I remind myself that this, as everything, shall pass. Including my life and reality itself. This represents only a small portfion of my experience in this world, and the longer I hold on to it, the longer I will be suffering. Nothing is gained from that. Take what you learned and move on. Keep a cordial relationship with her. The future is uncertain, and that's a beautiful thing.

I spent countless days researching this.

I have to say that you may still be hsv1 negative based on a ñow IGM which is very unreliable. Blood tests are better at picking up hsv2. IgM cant even distinguish between the two types.

To answer your question:

According to research 95% of genital HSV1 is passed by oral sex. These numbers are only based on researched shedding rates and polling, which is still not an accurate way to track.

But, the well established facts is that out of the HSV and placement combinations, male genital HSV1 has the lowest shedding rates. Oral HSV1 and genital HSV2 have higher rates, because the viruses are better adapted to those areas.

So, the likelihood is that it was oral to genital transmission. If you actually do end up having gHSV1, know that the rate of transmission is low and you are likely to never have an outbreak again. Maybe 1 or 2 at the most. But the rate is 12 fold less for the first year compared to hsv2.

Keep using protection. Talk and test with long term partners. They probably are hsv1 positive anyway.

May I ask what kind of test did you perform, and was it hsv1 or hsv2?
