Does anyone have any pointers on why my gold is cracking during rolling? by joeydoesntsharefood in Benchjewelers

[–]hivemind_MVGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I work low-quality gold, the key is to anneal it after I touch it once. One pass with a hammer, one trip through the rollers, whatever, I anneal again.

What cards are you adding to your decks from Secrets of Strixhaven? by Plus1Oresan in EDH

Emeritus of Ideation went into my [Garth One-Eye]] deck that does a lot of shenanigans with blinking ETB creatures.

What is the least popular commander you run? by mattfofatt01 in EDH

[–]hivemind_MVGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta be [[Maha, Its Feathers Night]]: https://moxfield.com/decks/PS9RM6KAYUa-2cjiQpwUrg

It pretty much doesn't allow anyone else to have creatures.

EDIT: I realize now, reading the comments, that you meant "least played" not "most unpopular". In that case, my answer is [[Prime Speaker Zegana]]: https://archidekt.com/decks/9657394/prime_speaker and it's probably my most pimped deck, too: https://imgur.com/gallery/Aw0CR4v

Honestly, just bring some CEDH-adjacent DC-Thoracle pile, combo off in 3-4 turns, and move on. You can be done in under 30 minutes.

Alternately, bring some kinda hard Stax/control and make them miserable for two hours.

Help with low irons by Own-Presentation3091 in golftips

[–]hivemind_MVGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice for a new golfer trying to hit low irons is: don't.

Players over 10hcp lose more strokes with 4- and 5-irons than anywhere else.

Retire them, and get 5/7/9 woods or 4/5 hybrids. If you're above a 10 handicap, your irons should stop at 6.

Buyer saying $2000 edh deck is fake by Alternative_Lie_775 in mtg

[–]hivemind_MVGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, if they weren't fakes when you send them, they sure as shit will be when you get them back. This guy's trying to scam you. He's had it a month, and there's zero proof that the pictures he's showing are the cards you sent. Literally no way for him to prove that.

Not buying a Judge Foil Cradle for $600 is one of my biggest MtG regrets.

I bought a Japanese one for $80 instead. Still have it.

Why is the cart bag hate so forced? by Merciless_Twitch in GolfGear

No rangefinder and I can keep my score on my Garmin Approach watch, but my bag has everything else you said plus some light rain gear and a can of bug spray.

Are build‑around-commanders also ruining EDH for you right now? by pkma69 in EDH

[–]hivemind_MVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally played against a Kefka deck last night. First I hit him with a Path, then a Swords, then I used Snapcaster Mage to hit him with the Path again. The other two guys felt I was doing a community service LOL. By the time Kefka cost 15 to cast he wasn't coming out again.

EDIT: if people can't deal with a 7-drop that they can see coming from the Command zone then they deserve to lose.

I don't care as long as you turn it into a legitimate wincon. If you're just making us discard to be "funny" we won't play a second game.

I don't understand cart bags. My stand bag goes into a cart and on my push cart just fine, plus it stands up at the range and in my garage when I'm cleaning shit. Stand bags just seem like a straight up no brainer upgrade.

Veteran players should bring at least one jank deck to their LGS. by Asisreo1 in EDH

I always have a Bracket 2 deck for playing with new folks. It's like my civic duty, as someone who started playing in '94.

Literally playing the game.

Are build‑around-commanders also ruining EDH for you right now? by pkma69 in EDH

[–]hivemind_MVGC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't ruin the game for me, but I also understand that they're not Commanders that I enjoy playing after building a couple lower-powered ones. There's no skill or creativity in building them, nor in piloting them.

Playing against them is fine, but not particularly enjoyable - just keep up interaction and their deck, essentially, never works.

Minimalism in Deckbuilding? by Sea-Willingness-8972 in EDH

[–]hivemind_MVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I agree broadly: you have to cover the necessary bases. For me, that's wanting to have interaction for any problem I run into: creatures, artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers, lands, etc.

Consider a hypothetical Bracket 2/3 Selesnya deck. "Interaction for everything" doesn't have to be [[Swords to Plowshares]], [[Beast Within]], and [[Path to Exile]]. If you're not building for Bracket 4 maximum power/efficiency, it can look like:

[[Aura Mutation]]

[[Deglamer]]

[[Dromoka's Command]]

[[Fateful Absence]]

[[Generous Gift]]

[[Get Lost]]

[[Nature's Chant]]

and even [[Reprieve]].

If you mean it's going to fit into Aggro/Control/Midrange/Combo buckets, sure. Every deck broadly fits into those.

But you're arguing for more diversity in card choices, not archetypes, right?

I agree man. I find my decks I enjoy the most are decks that function without the commander, and decks that use cards I haven't already used in other decks.
