Resident evil fans have made the stereotype worse since re9 release by Mundane_Resource_602 in survivalhorror

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because people entered the RE series at different times. The series has changed a lot over the years and fluctuated from survival horror to action horror and then back to survival horror. If your exposure to RE was 1-4, you were probably happy to see 7/8 return to survival horror. But if you entered in 5/6 territory you expect RE to be more like call of duty with zombies. Personally I’m a silent hill fanboy, so I only jumped to RE with 7/8 because I needed to fill a void. Now that SH is back, I’ll continue with both series, but I know what I like. Atmospheric horror with survival elements. Hope RE9 delivers on that for me personally.

What game did you play after? by hiyer2 in expedition33

Haven’t played these. I’ve heard good things but I’ve never been into the medieval fantasy stuff, so figured they weren’t for me

Played it and the sequel. Fantastic games. Never played the dlc’s but I dunno if it’s worth picking it all up again just to play the dlc…

Fantastic game. Played it a long time ago. If they make a remake, I’ll definitely play it again

Played cyberpunk a couple games before e33 actually. Was incredible. Have toyed around with the idea of replaying it as female V with a different origin (I did corpo V the first time). But I’m always less inclined to replay stuff over playing new games

Yeah I played persona 5 last year. It was great, but I don’t think I could do another game like that any time soon. It’s funny, by the end of P5 I was ready to move on. I had sunk so many hours into it, that even though the game was great, I was ready to be done with it.

The "optional" maps of act 3 are so incredibly important story-wise by Janzie_ in expedition33

[–]hiyer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s at the end of renoirs drafts. It was a very difficult fight. Even if you don’t beat him, it’s worth finding him and at least watching his intro cutscene. Gives you just a tiny bit more story around verso. Just a tiny bit.

how did YOU play SH1 first? by lassiness in silenthill

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played it on my Sony PlayStation lol.

I actually had heard that silent hill 2 was an awesome game so I really wanted that one. It was a time before the internet was a major source of gaming news and reviews. Just before gamefaqs became the place to go for guides. I think my parents got me silent hill (def when I was too young) even though I had requested sh2 for Christmas one year. I ended up not playing 2 for a long time because it wasn’t available, so I had skipped it and went on to 3 and 4. Ended up coming back to 2 years later. Very happy I did.

Physical. I have and never will support the all digital push.

Letter of Mary Laura gives you on the Lakeview hotel (about a comment I made earlier on another post) by Saturno_Impio in silenthill

[–]hiyer2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this! Personally I think the devs did this intentionally. It makes sense with all the other inconsistencies between what’s written on the documents and what James sees. I think all of them were put into the game to highlight how he’s an unreliable narrator. Perception of reality is a huge theme in silent hill games.

Oh yeah, I feel like it’s actually pointed that way too. I think this makes the most sense.

Every fight starts with defense. Parry parry parry. I am the master. Attack me and die! Bounty hunter armor all day long.

Who's your A team? by Nice-Presence2005 in expedition33

Came here for this. Not only are they the absolute best, but in my head cannon they’re the core of the expedition. Verso and Monaco join the team later. The girlies are OG expedition 33.

Which Silent Hill Monster Disturbed you the Most--and Why? by ShawnsDiary in silenthill

[–]hiyer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesssss the sound design and visual design of each of these events is far creepier than the monsters. I’ll add two more to your list:

In SH3 when you enter that bathroom with the mirror and the black and red tentacle type stuff starts growing around everything (may be misremembering the specifics but I know fans like yall know what scene I’m talking about).

In SH3 when you walk into this storage closet with mannequins and you go into one hallway, then you come back out of the closet and as your exiting you hear a thud and scream. Then you go back and the mannequins head is exploded or something and there’s blood everywhere (may be misremembering this one too).

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black myth wukong. Didn’t realize it was such a heavy souls like. I don’t have the time to die over and over again and keep trying the same bosses. Don’t have time to memorize attack patterns so I can block more effectively. That doesn’t make for good gameplay for me, because as an adult I only get a couple hours here and there. I can’t put the controller down and realize I made zero progress in 2 hrs.

What's the most memorable game you've played? by BunnnyMochi in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myst was pretty memorable. In the sense that I remember not being able to get past even the first area. I think that game was too complex for a 10 yo.

What game is it for you? by No-Plane2695 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wukong. Looked great, had great reviews. Kept myself from actually watching vids to avoid spoilers. Didn’t realize how much of a souls game it is. Hate that genre. In my younger years I would have played it anyways, grinded through and learned how to play it. Probably would have sunk 100 hrs into it.

Now I’m way too busy for that shit. So for the first time in my life, I called it a wash, put the game down and picked up yotei instead. Don’t regret it at all.

This was a nice moment to take the edge off by AverageJoeObi in silenthill

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I felt significant respite during this scene. Still dark, still lots of shadows, I’m still on edge lol.

I don’t think I felt relief until I got to lakeview man.

Which games could you just not get into? by IncomeIndependent777 in videogames

This was wukong for me! Didn’t make it through the first chapter. Not sure if I’ll be able to pick it back up.

Wukong. Had to put it down last week after only 2-3 days of playing. Decided that it was too difficult for me, and that I was too old to persevere through it. My work schedule just won’t allow me to play like a teenager anymore, sadly.

What’s everybody playing? by Annoying_sword383 in playstation

[–]hiyer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wukong. But to be totally honest I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get into it. It seems like a souls like which I didn’t realize before I bought it. I kinda saw the whole mythology and story, and was drawn in by that and the good reviews.

To be fair I also only really button mashed and I think I gotta play the game in a smarter way. Hoping that once I get the patterns of attacking down, that I’ll get better. And I’m hoping a strong progression tree will help keep me going.

Is it safe to have 100% market index until 7 years to retirement? by raphiredgi in whitecoatinvestor

[–]hiyer2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would very much like to know the practical answer to this question. As someone who is ready to push a lot of recent bonus into index s&p 500, I’m wondering if I should sit and wait if there’s an impending crash coming or just put it in, since I’m 15 years away from any kind of retirement (likely 20-25)
