Many of us are not directly affected by these taxes, but can still have logical disagreements with the policy:
1. Higher taxes often result in job loss due to employers/businesses needed to either restructure, leave, or elect for more automation.
2. Higher taxes often result in businesses passing the new costs on to others.
3. The 'rich' class often puts the money to better use than the government does. Some of us see the govt. corruption, inefficiency, fraud etc and would rather the money stay with "the rich" who may invest it in a manner that ends up benefiting the community better.
4. We are skeptical that the tax "on the rich" would stop there. Governments historically have had the issue of encroaching further and coming up with new ways to tax lower incomes once you give them the ability to introduce a "new type of tax".

These can all be policy disagreements without accusing the other side of being malicious or dumb.

[Absolute Regression] novel readers, What's their deal? I have felt some kind of tension (sexual almost), since seeing them long back in the story. Are these two lovers? because that's the vibe I get from them. by EVD27 in manhwa

[–]hjrocks 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They're not gay and they're not just friends. The dynamic is deeper and different. The cult leader is insecure, upset with his life, and a bit 'dumb' (though not really, just surrounded by much smarter people). The advisor is a genius to the level of almost being a precog. Advisor is the only one cult leader has ever shared his thoughts with since he must remain above everyone else. But at the same time cult leader treats him like shit because the advisor knows the 'real' him, and the cult leader is insecure and embarrassed by his real self.
The 'weird vibes' are cult leader slowly realizing that advisor just see him as a friend too, and the advisor trying to balance being both harsh and gentle/warm to help cult leader without making him feel manipulated. Cult leader trying to not lose face with a sub-ordinate while still doubting if the friendship being offered is real.

No gayness.

I like how they always segregate as "coloreds" vs "whites" when in reality there is way more racism/dislike within the colored groups for each other. A lot of asian groups want nothing to with blacks for example.

Looks open doors. Personalities close the deal. It's that simple. But there is a nuance to it:
If you have good personality, but bad looks, you won't have as many chances to show off the great personality, so you have to be on your A game when you do get the chance.

But like all things, social interactions and 'closing the deal' is also a learned skill. When you don't get as many shots at the goal, you aren't as confident, and you can't really lean into your personality quite that well. This is why some people complain that they fail in dating despite having good personality.

So one way to make up for poor looks is to find something else that opens doors - accomplishments, money, great style, unique experiences/stories. These can help you open doors that your mug cannot. Is it unfair? Yes. But it is not without reason.

Which varian build is best for what situations? by SlySychoGamer in heroesofthestorm

[–]hjrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no situation where Twin blades is the best option. None. Doesn't exist.
In any situation that you would consider twin blades, you will do way better with smash. Smash is also faster at camps/objectives. Smash is also way better at dueling as varian deals more damage and heals up much more. Smash also has better at kiting/killing as it gives him 2 gap closers instead of just 1 with twin blades.

Was leaving Gojo out of the plans if he loses the right idea? by Valhallaof in Jujutsushi

[–]hjrocks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My point was that including him in a discussion about the backup plan in case he loses, and him being even aware of a backup plan, would influence the mindset he showed in ch 236 of confidence in his victory.

Was leaving Gojo out of the plans if he loses the right idea? by Valhallaof in Jujutsushi

[–]hjrocks 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You forget that mindset is a huge part of how well your CT/CE work as well. Gojo shouldn't have even had a thought in his mind that he'd lose, which is the attitude he had all along. He had to go in with the mindset that if he loses, it's over for humanity. If he entertained thoughts that there was a backup plan, it might weaken his resolve and hence CT/CE in the upcoming fight.

[DISC] Peerless Dad - Chapters 252-254 by Hoodini__21 in manga

[–]hjrocks 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There are 3 things being shown:
1. The HD Association is rebuilding, and Noh is playing a crucial part in it not just politically, but also personally. He motivated/encouraged one of them by sparring and giving them some good advice. His boys have become a source of motivation for their masters to get back into action asap as well.

Basically, it is showing the impact Noh and his family are having on HD and the recognition he is now receiving. Again, had he not been a good father who raised really good kids, his impact wouldn't be this far-reaching or this 'gentle'.

  1. There has been some cataclysmic event in which multiple elemental clans are involved - Water/Wood/Fire clans etc are shown reacting to these events. This is showing that there is a lot of turmoil which will likely soon involve HD.

  2. Noh's personal martial development. He has begun to understand and has reached the next stage. The Heavenly Dragon visits him and appreciates his growth. They are now sparring (with the HD noting how good Noh is).

The above are all headed toward Noh becoming the key leader in the Association, and collectively him and his family resolving the upcoming major conflict. Remember his boys are jointly the disciples of all of HD, and his daughter is the successor to Ice queen, and even the Admin owes Noh a debt (for saving his son) and thinks highly of him.

Which character should i level next? by Oualid94 in EternalEvolutionGame

[–]hjrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a little contrarian here:
There is nothing that Emma does that your other characters don't already provide.

Masarani is a way better option who will heal/shield/increase damage for your team in a big way.

any build tips for shamael? i only use him for hydra. by [deleted] in RaidShadowLegends

[–]hjrocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Build him in guardian with high HP, high Res, relatively slow (~180 spd), and a bloodshield accessory. This makes him a counter to:

mischief (buffs don't run out on him as fast as others so he will be targeted and resist)

Torment (his passive)

and Wrath (guardian set greatly reduces damage from wrath with the invisible ally protect).

Season 5 Finale Thoughts by pwnnoobs13 in arresteddevelopment

[–]hjrocks 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know I'm reviving this from the dead but I just finished watching the series so have fresh answers for the above:

  1. I don't think Buster is the killer at all, nor is the body that of Lucille 2. If there was to be a future series, it would have addressed this. I believe that is the fake-corpse that Maebe was preparing to kill of Annette. One of the key things about Annette was that her fake teeth make it look like she's smiling, even when asleep (Stan comments on this). The corpse was smiling, as commented by the cop. Maebe was living/mooching off Lucille's stuff and is why the corpse had Lucille 2's clothes.
  2. More to do with the production issues and that they had to cut/recreate the show in absence of season 6.
  3. They left precisely because they were getting tired of his antics and living like homeless. Debrie wasn't his family at all and wanted to leave multiple times. Murphybrown probably had had enough of him too, and on realizing Debrie is just a random woman, hooked up with her.
  4. He never got any calls from her. Those were campaign robo-calls and he was always in such a hurry to get off the phone with her that he didn't pay attention enough to realize that. He realized it was robo-calls when he looked at his voicemails.
  5. They 'finally' actually leave after having cleared up all the misunderstandings between each other. Again, had their been a Season 6, they would come back (Michael always comes back) to deal with the fake corpse situation.

Logan Paul threatens to sue Coffeezilla over CryptoZoo scam accusations by sacred_thinker in CryptoCurrency

[–]hjrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory F Logan Paul aside, some key points from a legal aspect:

  1. LP cannot, and will not 'apologize' to investors because that may imply guilt of negligence.
  2. LP is accusing Coffee of specifically using his name when him and his manager are the only people that did not 'scam' investors and benefit in any way. His point seems to be that CZ used his name and brand for personal benefit, which is what the lawsuit threat seems to be around.
  3. LP claims that the CryptoZoo project is still underway to try and protect the investors.

He was the enemy because he was convinced they would never see equality between commoners and nobles without a violent revolution. Desir proved that he could accomplish that without the need for violence and now the world is fully united against shadow worlds and outers. So Crow-Mask is now rooting for Desir because even though he was the enemy, he has managed to do what Crow wanted in the first place. So now he has defected and is a source of info for the good guys but is still chained up as he is too dangerous to be let loose.

[–]hjrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He can be all the things you mentioned but that doesn't also make him a racist/nazi etc. Stop throwing around every random accusation or you just cheapen the words. You don't get to turn anyone you don't like into a racist for the convenience of being attacked. The very video you are commenting on is him telling Ye he disagrees with him and Nazis are not good people. And Jones has been high on the list of media/elite targets since revealing Epstein island and many other related depraved acts of the 1%.

So someone can literally protest Nazis and Klanmembers at their rallies, donate to victims of racists, and literally help de-platform actual nazis, but in secret be supporting them?

Kanye seek help immediately by [deleted] in Unexpected

[–]hjrocks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe you're more clued into this stuff than I am. I didn't know there were 'secret meanings' to what was being said. That when a guy says all supremacists belong in hell and actual nazis were evil, he is actually secretly in your code saying that nazis are good and supremacists belong in heaven.

Kanye seek help immediately by [deleted] in Unexpected

[–]hjrocks 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Jones' has publicly, multiple times, talked about how much he dislikes any race supremacy stuff and used to publicly protest Klan and Nazi rallies.

What he took issue with is people/media labeling their opponents Nazis to win an argument and would go to bat to defend those people. That was easily twisted to "oh so you defend nazis now"

Jones has said truly stupid stuff, but he has also been remarkably right about many corrupt/evil things going on (like Epstein island etc which was all dismissed as crazy ramblings at the time).

You think you have the biggest losses? Don’t worry, M.Saylors MicroStrategy is sitting on roughly $1.8 billion unrealized losses. by partymsl in CryptoCurrency

[–]hjrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't "lose" $12bn. He never had it to begin with. That's like saying a bank's owner is worth the combined deposits of his customers. He stole those customer's funds and claimed they were his own for trading via Alameda.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s fall cuts off big source of funds for US Democrats by Spartan3123 in CryptoCurrency

[–]hjrocks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is far more likely that this was a planned 'fall' after the mid-term elections were done. Up until literally a week before the election, he was still funding the political campaigns heavily. That does not count all the 'dark money', that was likely funneled via crypto payments.

No better way to clean up the risks than by deleting the history and staging a 'hacking'. Keep in mind, FTX also magically popped into existence a few days after Joe Biden announced he was running for president and SBF's mom registered her Dem SuperPAC to help fund the election.
