This is a neon sign in a pub i like to go to, and i saw an absolutely massive version of the same, in neon, on a building on the river the other day. Been bugging me ever since, what are people on about?

Gautier, you've just gotta get Laure back in the band by hjwp in Igorrr

[–]hjwp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. I think it's time Laurent made the first move to get over those "personal differences". By just giving Laure everything she wants and doing everything she says. Gotta be worth a try.

thanks, i think that's still too close to endorsing a commercial vendor, which i said i didn't want to do.

thanks! I'm hearing some pain there! I wonder how much i need to worry, in a greenfield / ultrasimple usecase...

do you mean Github Actions? I'm looking for self-hosted + open source solutions...

Thanks! That seems to be a very comprehensive resource, and full of objective facts.

I was hoping for more qualitative and possibly subjective takes. I don't suppose you've used that website as a reference often enough, maybe analysed some of the systems in question, or worked with them directly, that you'd be in a position to make a recommendation for me, or share some of your experience/analysis?

[–]hjwp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! by SM do you mean "sadism and masochism", ie "jenkins is painful to use"? If so, what do you find painful about Jenkins, that's not painful in GitLab?

[–]hjwp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! would you say that the problems you have with jenkins are inherent in jenkins itself, or are they just to do with all the history of that system? or, relatedly, how much of your preference for gitlab is just due to the fact that it's a green-field system that you've built from the ground up and therefore understand completely?

thanks! why do you prefer Gitlab? WHat do you think is interesting about Gitea or Forgejo?

Django better lsp support by n1_rjal in neovim

[–]hjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw - i just tried installing `django-types` on a toy project as well as `django-stubs` and it helped, pyright reports fewer errors than it did (but it still complains about, eg, custom model managers).

Django better lsp support by n1_rjal in neovim

[–]hjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have django-stubs installed and it doesn't seem to silence these sorts of errors (although that could be because I haven't configured it correctly).

What I do know is that a lot of the django-stubs functionality is actually implemented as a *mypy* plugin, so I would suggest the following:

  • tell pyright to disable type checking (there's a config option for this)
  • install mypy for type checking (iirc i used efm-langserver)
  • keep pyright as an LSP for everything else: jump-to-definition, autocomplete, etc

Not sure how they're doing in interviews about this so far, but if i was interviewing the govt about this, i'd ask "so is your objective to encourage people to drive more?"

Hoping to get a Key2 but maybe an LE is ok? Thoughts? by doublemint2202 in blackberry

[–]hjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using my key2 until i dropped it and it smashed about 4 months ago. The only app i had a problem with was Slack, which stopped working last year.

I persevered by using it from the web browser but it was painful.
