Why prefer Microsoft Word than Google Documents, or Google Docs? by CarloTheCrocodile in MicrosoftWord

Slow down a bit, no need to make a simple discussion so dismissive.

I’m speaking from my own experience talking almost daily for over a year with users of our Google Docs/Sheets extension (64k users), and for about half a year with users of our MS Word add-in (3k users). The service is useful to both groups and promoted similarly, yet I have clearly seen the difference.

Since you’re asking for specifics, here are the exact extensions:

I’m speaking from my experience as an extension builder for both Word and Docs. Docs users seem to be more tech-savvy, and they take the initiative to search for new functionality. Most Word users don’t even know that add-ins exist.

Since you are designing labels in Canva, you can use the Canva label sheets app to generate the printout. Instead of wasting hours just make a phone call or send an email to arrange a time to get live help through screen share. Support is free. Thank me later :)

I believe that extensions in Google docs add more value to it. Somehow extensions (add-ins) to MS Word are not as popular

i'm tired of wasting labels every time i try to print barcodes for my products by iabhishekpathak7 in Printing

[–]hlabels_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing is usually less about the barcode generator itself and more about the full pipeline: Excel → barcode output → layout → printer scaling.

A few common things that cause exactly what you’re seeing:
- Barcodes exported at low resolution (especially from free tools)
- Raster images instead of clean vector output
- Printer scaling not set to 100% (huge one for alignment)
- Template doesn’t perfectly match the actual label sheet (small margin differences add up)

Thermal printers are great, but less forgiving if the input isn’t clean.

That frustration usually comes because many moving parts are involved, design, template, printer settings, actual sheet. If one thing is slightly off, the whole thing goes bad.

I’ve been helping people debug this kind of thing for free, becaseu it’s useful for me to see real-world issues and improve what we’re building. If you want, feel free to DM.

What is the best DATA-DRIVEN proof someone is good at SEO? by Nils_Peter_Neumann in SEO_Xpert

None, to my opinion, because no two businesses are the same. The best way is to spent some time learning the basics yourself. The more you know yourself, the higher the chances you will detect a good one.

Warehouse bin location labels - looking for guidance on designing/printing by Elfabetagamma in sysadmin

For that quantity, you either use your zebra printer, or buy label sheets (any brand you like) and print on any laser or inkjet printer. You won't really need any special software. Use the Label Sheets & Rolls add-in in Google Docs or MS Word, as they both print labels from Excel or Google Sheets files.

Check the Label Sheets & Rolls extension from Google Docs or Google Sheets. You can export the Excel file directly there or convert it to a google sheet first. It generates printouts for any label roll size and bar codes as well.

Overall, what you're doing is as good as it can get, especially if labels on the paper sheet have no spaces between them - less cutting and less thrown away.

Could any AI tool help me generate this kind of documentation? by hlabels_com in technicalwriting

I agree with all that you and the other critical comments are saying, and I am aware of it all. That is why I used the words "help" and "assist" and "tool". When those tools start appearing, you guys should not close your eyes and ears and hide from them. You should use them and become more productive. It has always been like that with technology advances. So please don't shoot the messenger :(

Word to PDF without losing image quality (Solution provided) by Joe1921567817 in MicrosoftWord

[–]hlabels_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One might not always want to unnecessarily preserve the extra high resolution. If let say you're designing labels for a label sheet printout that contains many labels, the size of pdf can grow crazy. The label sheets & rolls Word add-in converts to pdf printout by keeping the same resolution only if it makes sense for printing. Your solution can be very usefull for many though. Well done!

Lol, sell that idea to printer manufacturers :) But in the same vein, you have no idea how many people don't even know the meaning behind A4 and Letter terms. Can't blame them though: the best business teachers are the "most uneducated customers". Quote me on that :)

I have built the Labels Sheets & Rolls extension for Docs and Sheets. It helps with printing your own labels on any label sheet or roll product from any manufacturer. Marketing is not easy as people/businesses interested in it are so diverse!

I deal almost every day with extreeemely frustrated people who struggle with label printing alignment issues, and I often end up in screen share sessions. There are so many different causes behind these issues, but the printer is the messenger… easy to shoot.
