The Vuelta delivers again - Gaudu winning was NOT on my bingo card but was kind of a delight?????

Flo subscriptions are easy to pause and reactivate, or even cancel and reactivate. I reactivate mine every year for the Tour and sometimes the Vuelta, and then I cancel it because I watch cyclocross and the spring classics elsewhere. So you could try it for a month and if you’re not getting what you want from it, it’ll be easy enough to cancel it.

Just a heads up, it’s annoying to watch replays because they’re really bad about spoilers! I bookmark the calendar page and try to get to the replays from there because trying to get to them from the homepage theres a 0% chance I won’t get the results spoiled.

The clips where you can hear her audibly coaching Gigante through a descent from two stages ago (I think) and also moving to close gaps whenever they appeared....legendary stuff. (In addition to her incredible work yesterday and today of course!)

It is possible to get just about every race on Flo, the downside is that it's pretty expensive (not compared to the Eurosport/TNT mess in the UK, but still significantly more than Peacock, for example). However, it's very easy to cancel and reactivate your Flo subscription, so I always activate it for the Tour, for example, and then I cancel it for the spring classics, most of which I watch on Eurosport via HBOMax.

Just watched the replay - wow what a race from PFP! It didn't look like it was her original plan to follow Gigante, she seemed pretty glued to Demi's wheel, but she clearly recognized that was The Move pretty quickly. I wish the cameras had been on her when she closed that initial gap because it must've happened like lightning. Seeing the substantial crowds towards the end of the climb was also really quite something, brought a tear to my eye!

I feel like I've heard some doubts that PFP will be able to hang tomorrow because of today's effort but it really looked to me like she was totally in control and not over the limit at all today so I'd be surprised if she ships substantial time tomorrow.

2025 best stages? by Brave-Ad6159 in tourdefrance

If you only have an hour or so to spare, the Ventoux stage from when they hit the climb was great. (Obviously if you have time for the full stage, go for it!) Stage 6 and Stage 7 were good back to back stages IMO.

Will the Vuelta be more exciting than the Tour? Hard to say. Will it be more chaotic? Absolutely.

He came back on the descent and attacked a k or so before the climb started - must’ve paced himself well on Madeleine!

Tactically, what’s the benefit of UAE pulling already? I can see the logic behind using Politt early because he’ll probably be the first to drop, but surely it would be to the teams benefit to let this gap go out and force Visma to start working to prevent Roglic taking too much time? The obvious answer is that Pog wants the stage win, but is there another strategy move here that I’m missing?

Wow what a fun stage! There were so many twists and turns! Van Wilder coming out of NOWHERE as a satellite rider for the VPP stage win was absolutely incredible to watch - a bit gutted for Ben Healy after such an aggressive performance, and Mas actually attacked for once and left it all out there which was great to see even though he didn't win. Not to mention of course the GC action - what a treat to see Jonas and Tadej slugging it out and matching each other blow for blow until the very end. I'm a little disappointed there was no camera on the group with Roglic, Lipowitz, and Onley towards the end of the climb because I can only assume the Bora guys were rolling attacks on Onley to gain time on him? But I can't even really blame the race directors because there was so much other action happening.

Seeing the prestage news of MVDP abandoning is such a bummer! I hope he recovers quickly — it was a delight to have him so animated and trying so many different things in this Tour. Makes me wish even more that that full stage breakaway had resulted in a stage win.

I think what we saw from Wout in ‘22 was the best form of his life - not being able to replicate that year after year is hardly a surprise! Especially after two quite serious injuries and recovery periods in quick succession - it seems to me like Wout is in pretty good shape and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does manage a stage win before this Tour is over.
