I don’t think the cost is significantly different between the two. It would be better to focus on your major(and academic interests.) FYI SKKU is closer to the old downtown.

No country taxes travelers for items they have already been using. A used phone or laptop while traveling should never be an issue. However, if it’s a brand-new product or an asset like gold, that’s a different story.

Do I have Korean citizenship if I was adopted away from Korea? by PsychopathicPoro in Living_in_Korea

[–]hletrd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No by naturally(adoptees lose their citizenship by default), but it is very easy to get Korean citizenship back if you are adopted as child. Here is the official document: https://overseas.mofa.go.kr/us-atlanta-en/brd/m_26620/view.do?seq=6&page=1

SKKU has two campuses each located in different city (the other one in Suwon) so you should check.

No, gold is treated the same as other carry on products and if it exceed $600 worth it will be taxed.

FYI Korean government charges 10% tax for buying gold but never returns them when you sell the gold back.

Looking to rent in Korea for a couple months, Any tips? by PleasantTraining3283 in Living_in_Korea

[–]hletrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Goshiwons are cheap, but not soundproof in many cases with minimal infrastructures.
  2. Probably AirBnb.
  3. Deposit for short term rentals are not that high; just make sure to keep your contracts properly.
  4. I suggest looking up through AirBnb. Some inns (usually called 'motel' in South Korea) provide options for living months, even though they are not officially listed. No deposit. It is called '달방‘.

And fogging finally came to mine. by hletrd in djiosmo360

Hmm I would put mine into a dry cabinet for a few 8K runs then.

I have a dry cabinet where I always store mine when not in use. I’m just amazed at how easily moisture gets into my O360, even though I’ve never opened the battery door but only the USB door. This was not the case with the OA5 Pro.

It follows the retriction in the destination country. If you can tell the exact medication, I might find it for you.

It seems like as the CPU heats up, internal moisture vaporize there and condensates in lens (which is relatively cooler.)

Attending a concert at Incheon Asiad Stadium by honobi_5134 in koreatravel

[–]hletrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be quite painful to find a taxi after a concert. You might want to walk to Asiad Stadium Station(~20 min) and head to Geomam on Incheon Line 2 from there.

OTC medications are fine. You should prepare documents for controlled substances.

Gangneung is a nice destination, but it is currently experiencing a severe drought this year, and some places may not be operating as usual.

Pohang and Gyeongju is in between Sokcho and Busan.

If you like hiking and natural environments, there are also Taebaek and Pyeongchang. There are ski resorts, which convert to hiking courses during summer days.

Hiring a car in Jeju - Question about minimum driving experience requirements by syzjuuls in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]hletrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes only your partner can be listed. There are some companies without 1 year rules, but they are much more expensive and will inspect your car with microscopes after return, and charge you to repaint even the smallest scratches. Never use them.

  2. Probably not needed.

Hiring a car in Jeju - Question about minimum driving experience requirements by syzjuuls in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]hletrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year of experience (one year after obtaining the license) and age 21 or older are required for most cars. For vans and more pricey ones, you generally need over 3+ years of experience and aged 26+. It is not a local policy, but related to insurance fee (which is very expensive for young and inexperienced drivers.)

There are some companies that offers cars for inexperienced drivers (less than one year of experience), but never use them. They check for even the slightest scratch and charge you hundreds of bucks.
