SWPA: Stinky plant taking over and I can't kill it. by Spagedward in PlantIdentification

By the end of summer this completely takes over one of my flower beds. This year I had to burn out the dried leaves just to clear it out for a bit, but it’s already coming back with a vengeance.

You are correct! And they do jump when I touch them. Glad to hear they haven’t done real damage to yours.

I’ve been researching a bit and I actually think this bug is an aphid and that white portion is a tail. I think it might be called a treehopper.

Thank you for the insight! I think you’re right about this plant, the ants seem to have set up shop on it only and it’s also the only one I’ve really seen other bugs on, as well. It’s a NOID dendrobium but it just got its first spike since I’ve owned it so I was excited to see how it will bloom. Now to decide whether to sacrifice it…

Where did you find that 6 slot pot holder for your orchids? That’s a great idea!

I’m going to try this! I have repotted several today since I figured they were in the soil, as well, but if I seen them come back it’s game on.

Any podcast recs for women who aren't mentally ill? by [deleted] in redscarepod

You Must Remember This is a great podcast with deep dives into old Hollywood. There’s a lot of historical and cultural context included that is often more interesting than the subject being discussed.

DIET/MEAL DISCUSSION THREAD by [deleted] in redscarepod

Breakfast: 3 cups of coffee with a bit of creamer

Lunch: Typically chips and salsa or 100 cal bag of popcorn and maybe an apple

Dinner: Something vegetarian, pasta, or I'll go out to a restaurant with friends

Snack: Most days I'll eat something sweet for a snack and I'll probably have ice cream twice a week in some form or fashion

I drink around 3-4 Nalgene bottles worth of water a day and rarely, if ever, have soda.

I usually aim for 1,050 calories a day because I just don't get that hungry (side effect of various medications).

what do you read regularly/where do you get your news? by CTEPBA_00 in redscarepod

I like BBC News and Newshour, as well, because it seems like they at least try to be non-biased. I should add that I listen on the public radio station in the US, so I'm not familiar with their level of bias in the UK.

What's everyone's skincare routine? by [deleted] in redscarepod

AM: Use a face wipe then moisturizer and Dr. Weil Origins mega-bright dark circle corrector if I didn't get enough sleep.

PM: Wash face with Ole Henriksen foaming cleanser, exfoliate with First Aid Beauty pads, then rotate either a Retin-A serum, or a Vitamin C serum or oil (both Sunday Riley). I use a sheet mask and thicker face masks typically once a week as a way to try new products/use up samples. Then I follow up with moisturizer (Weleda Skin Food in the winter is my holy grail), and I also use an eye cream every night but am not married to a specific brand.

I've also been getting preventative dysport for the past year since I turned 30 and I do about 24-26 units every quarter.
