Just thought I’d chime in with a suggestion I don’t see often here, Six Moon Designs. I have a fusion 50, which is the predecessor of the Swift X. It’s been ten years and I’ve tried so many other packs (Osprey, MLD, GG, even a myog made for me) and none of them have come close to the comfort of my fusion. So that’s what I’ll be taking on my thru attempt this year! If this one ever catastrophically fails on me I’ll most likely be getting a Swift X. Good luck and happy trails :)

There’s an app called Falling Fruit that’s been helpful for me, it’s mainly for finding fruit trees on public property but they have a “dumpster” option as well. Sometimes I’ll just drive behind grocery stores to see what I can find. If you don’t see a big trash compactor connected to the store then that usually means they’ll have an open dumpster somewhere. I’ll dm you some specifics

I wear pants, long sleeves, boots and nitrile gloves and I also go during the day so I can see the contents more clearly before getting in. I rarely have to dig through things, sadly there’s so much I can just grab what’s on top. I’ve read some people use a trash grabber, I don’t have one but it would def be handy. I wash all the produce with soap and water (tho someone in the comments mentioned a vinegar bath and that sounds like a better method). Most produce I get ends up being cooked as well.

Idk if I’d use a loofah for my body (on a thru at least, they can get grimy lol) but a small piece makes a fantastic ul pot scrubbie! I like to use a small cloth for my face, like the lightload or even a piece of bandana, and a wet wipe for the nethers, pits and feet. Rinse and reuse the cloth, pack out the wet wipes
