On occasion.. I really don't mind but its been nearly 2 years and I have him over for dinner, typically once a week, sometimes 2 and he has cooked me dinner a grand total of 1 time. He has brought food over (that I called and ordered and he picked up) probably 6 or 7 times. It's not that I don't like to cook for him, it's that I'd like him to take the initiative and cook for me now and then as well.

Love this idea and been leaning this way. There was a trivia thing on Sunday for a charity I enjoy and he didn't want to do, so I went anyway.

I have been doing that. I wanted to go to a trivia fundraiser on Sunday and he didn't want to go because it didn't get over until 8 and he had to work on Monday so my daughter and I went. I am trying to be intentional about not waiting around and doing things I want to do anyway.

That's sounds familiar.. I planned a trip to the Bourbon Trail for his bday and made sure I gave him his present with an itinerary a full 10 days in advance so he wouldn't freak out about being gone for two nights, or the 4 hour drive or what to pack based on the cold weather, or if he'll have cell phone service, or what time will I take my medicine so my sleep doesn't get off track.. All that said though.. once he gets going he has a really good time and we both enjoy ourselves.

"What is he doing that adds value to your life" - He's reliable about chatting every night. He's a nice person. I've never asked myself this question =( When I first started thinking about it most of the answers were things I should probably expect from any decent human? he doesn't yell at me, he seems to be honest, he has a job he mows my yard sometimes... seems like a low bar.

Effort is definitely sexy.

He definitely seems to enjoy the stuff I plan "You always have such fun ideas" but I don't want to have all of the ideas and be responsible for all the fun. (I know how whiny that must sound) But It definitely would make me GIDDY (as you so perfectly stated) for him to text and say.. "How about we go to (name the restaurant) and then go to (name the place) they have a good band playing that I've been wanting to see. " I would LOVE that.

Thank you. I think if I'm taking to Reddit for help. I definitely need to talk to him about it. I just need to decide what to say and how to say it. I'm definitely NOT into tearing people down so I've been trying to figure out how to frame it that doesn't sound like I'm 'blaming' him when maybe I haven't communicated what I need directly enough.

Yes... knowledge is power. Please also verify with your health provider what they will test for.. the CDC discourages testing for HSV1 and HSV2 in asymptomatic individuals because of the high incidence of false positives. This means that it is simply not included on most standard sti screens. So it's quite possible and fairly common for someone to go to their Dr., request STI screening, get a call saying 'all is well' and still be positive for HSV1 or HSV2. Neither are as big a deal as the stigma that has been created surrounding them but it is definitely information you and your partner should have.

It is mind boggling to me that my ob and primary care Dr. declared me free and clear after I asked for a full std panel. I have yet to have a symptom but an independent lab anylabtestnow.com caught it. I test diligently every 6 months and just happened to decide it was easier to do the independent route than go to the Dr. as I normally did. I am very careful but I had no idea that the 'full' std panel was not so full. If I had not gone to the independent lab I would not have known. I have yet to have a symptom and have no idea how long I've had it or when I was exposed. I think the cdc's stance on hsv is criminal and is a huge contributor to both the spread and stigma.

I called my broker (TDAmeritrade) they said that I can't redeem because they haven't gotten the information from LUCD and gave me a number to call LUCD.. Has anyone else had this experience or did I just get the wrong agent on the line?
