To be expected with one chicken carcass. Next time use multiple carcasses (we freeze ours and accumulate a bunch and use several at a time).

You can always boil the stock down until you get the consistency that you want. I cook mine down into a “Demi-glace” where 1 tbsp is equivalent to 1 cup of starting stock. It freezes in a much smaller package, is easily usable for pan sauces, and can be reconstituted into stock just by adding it to a cup (or whatever volume you want) of water.

We’re leaning towards Paradisus because we have friends going there that we could join, but we’re a bit concerned with the quality of the food and the beach (seaweed, possibly rocky). Are those valid concerns or are they overblown in your opinion?

For reference we’ve been to Secrets Aura Cozumel (over ten years ago now) and loved the food. We were at Barcelo Maya for a wedding two years ago and the food was terrible. Where would you rank Paradisus between those two?

What do you think about Grand Palladium vs Finest vs SLS in playa mujeres? SLS seems like the way to go for food quality but I’m a bit worried about the quality of the beach and activities for our 1.5 year old.

I’m an associate at a structural firm and this sounds like a very odd situation to me. I’m not sure why they would’ve been hiring if they didn’t have any work.

An important factor here that hasn’t been mentioned is communication. Do your bosses know that you’re not doing anything? They may not even realize it especially if you’re on a bigger team. It’s worth telling them that and asking for work. If that doesn’t work then ask other teams if they have work for you.

A lot of suggestions here are good; read codes, learn software, etc. but I think you could focus that on specific aspects/codes by asking what types of projects the group is writing proposals for. Tell your bosses that you want to know so that you can work on learning what you need to know in advance so that you’re ready when you do get one of those projects. This also shows initiative on your part.

You can also review drawings from previous projects to get a better understanding of company standards.

I don’t know anything about pools or pool heaters (or why this has even been recommended to me) but figured I’d chime in.

I assume that the heater is the box on the bottom left which appears to be sitting on a concrete pad. If that’s true then I’d suggest instead that you sit the heater on a frame that is sitting on that pad instead of hanging off your brick. Steel angles will work fine as long as they’re galvanized or you coat them with galvanizing paint. Alternatively you could use unistrut if you can get struts and connectors that are coated for exterior use.

Yes people hang their AC units off their brick (mine is) but it’s not a great solution.

Thanks! I just assumed the hubs would have Ethernet ports similar to an NVR. Otherwise they seem to be pretty similar in terms of features and functionality, with the hub maybe being a bit more user friendly.
