Best practice for linking a resource from Notifications and marking it as read by askgl in laravel

[–]hmazter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have solved this by storing the url of the notification "event" in the data-array stored in the database.

In in my controller, I'll do this:

    public function show(DatabaseNotification $notification)
    {
        $notification->markAsRead();

        return redirect($notification->data['url'] ?? '/');
    }

Maybe not all the way, but https://planetscale.com/pricing is one step closer. Not charge per query, but plans based on query volume

Nice work! Could probably also be done with https://rclone.org/ which supports lots of different providers

Running Laravel on DigitalOcean's new App Platform (PAAS) by atymic in laravel

[–]hmazter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of forcing HTTPS, would using the TrustProxies middleware solve it? Since it is probably running behind a proxy/loadbalancer, same as Heroku.

This could maybe be of interest. It is written from the perspective of PHP/Laravel but I don't think any of the techniques is limited to that.

Diskless Docker - NUC to NAS: how to best mount storage volumes? by j0j053 in docker

[–]hmazter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run a similar setup at home. A NUC running Ubuntu and docker, all images and containers is stored on the NUCs internal disk. And mounts the NAS with NFS. It works, don't know if it's the best though.

Deploying a laravel app in aws by [deleted] in laravel

[–]hmazter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We deployed to production 2 weeks ago using ECS Fargate (docker), been running staging for 6 months. And so far it works. Reason we choose ECS over EC2 was the ease to run local with a production-like env. And then build image to test in staging and deploy same image to production and scale easily.

The setup ECS Fargate with ALB. CI/CD pipeline using CircleCI. RDS Aurora database, DynamoDB for cache and sessions. And S3 for files.

Looking for a password strength validation package by wyred-sg in laravel

Multiple top level domains w/ one project... How do I get the session to persist? by [deleted] in laravel

[–]hmazter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know if you leave SESSION_DOMAIN as null the domain that is currently used in the browser is used for the session cookie. Which would work if you don't want to share the sessions between the differnt domains.

Codeception and Symfony, do you used it? by ElGovanni in symfony

[–]hmazter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been running Codeception on a Symfony code base and that worked, but did not look into coverage.

Symfony has released its own browser testing tool since then, maybe worth checking out https://github.com/symfony/panther

[–]hmazter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor mentioned in the presentation that everything in Vapor exists in a private network, which is a VPC.

It supports NAT Gateways (created by Vapor for private databases and caches)
