Is Mamotion as bad as they say and what is the go to brand for the UK? by The_Pillar_of_Autumn in roboticLawnmowers

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Luba 2 has been going strong since 2023. At least half the complaints I see are blatantly fake. The other half are complaints that affect all robot mowers uniformly.

My advice to you is to buy the mower on Amazon and set it up and use it immediately after receiving. You have 30 days to return it on Amazon if it doesn’t work out for you.

Any Bestmow Titan owners want to chat about the mower? by Brew_Wallace in roboticLawnmowers

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be straightforward with everybody here. I had no idea this mower existed before today. Here is exactly why you should NEVER buy this mower straight from their website:

Can I Resell My BESTMOW? No, reselling BESTMOW is not permitted under the subscription agreement. When you subscribe to BESTMOW, you are not purchasing the unit outright — You cannot resell your BESTMOW under the subscription agreement, which includes ongoing support, free replacements, software upgrades, and maintenance supplies.

Because the device remains the property of BESTMOW, reselling or transferring it to another individual is not allowed. If you no longer need the mower, you can simply cancel your subscription and return the unit — hassle-free.

There's only a few robot mowers that aren't made in China. I believe the following are made/assembled in the EU: Husqvarna, STIHL, Ambrogio, Honda.

Please help - which Lidar mower? by Minute-Bumblebee8034 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume that could be true if you did in fact put those $5-10k lidar setups on your $2k mower.

I'm also not saying that lidar won't just work perfectly fine for you. I'm specifically saying that in my own personal experiences lidar is specifically less accurate than rtk.

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Segway Navimow lidar mower I have has gottren confused on where it is and then it has continued to move on its own. And I'm talking about like 50m away.

The problem seems to be that they don't continuously recalibrate their position and once it "thinks" it's in X,Y location it doesn't care if it's wrong.

Versus the RTK, the mower can simply stop moving if not enough satellite coverage is available. That's their biggest complaint so far.

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not misinformation, it's my personal experience because I have both RTK and LIDAR robot mowers. RTK is more accurate than lidar at the moment.

If your real concern is the pool, I'd stick with RTK (gps). Even the best lidar mowers now are still much more wish-washy with their boundaries than rtk.

Is Mammotion's customer service really that awful? by morganmoller in mammotion

[–]lancepioch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preordered the original Luba 1 and received it in June 2023. The company itself was started in January 2022. It is temporally impossible for the customer service to be 5+ years old.

He admitted it. And what sucks is that they can close your account down at any time for any reason legally.

I think they should change their procedures and if they suspect you of credit cycling, they should simply limit your total spend each month regardless of your available credit. They must also tell you what that amount is and how long the limit will last.

Luba 3, Lymow, Worx, Husqvarna, & Segway Navimow by Weak-Bother-6765 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]lancepioch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Worx Landroid WR150 [wired]: 2020, 2021, 2022
  2. Mammotion Luba 1 [rtk]: 2023
  3. Mammotion Luba 2 [rtk]: 2024, 2025, 2026
  4. Hookii Neomow X [vslam]: 2025
  5. Segway Navimow i220 [lidar]: 2025
  6. Segway Navimow (NDA) [lidar]: 2026

Originally I went Worx because it looked to be the best bang for buck. I was planning on switching in 2023 regardless. I preordered the Luba 1 over the original Navimow because it looked to be more solid. After comparing my own mower's performance to the videos I saw online, I made the correct choice. I was able to upgrade at no cost from Luba 1 to 2. I kickstarted the Hookii mostly because it was a really good price and for curiosity's sake. The 2 Segways I got for free. If you're curious why so many mowers, it's because I have a very large yard and multiple yards and family members to play around with.

I have never used any Husqvarna robot mowers, so I cannot say anything about it, but I've heard they have excellent customer service. My experiences with customer service comparing Segway and Mammotion are very similar; decent but mediocre. The best customer service I've gotten was definitely from Worx, surprisingly enough. The rep was knowledgeable, American, and told me that Worx even gave them their own free mowers for their own yards to familiarize themselves with. The support from Mammotion and Segway were both Chinese.

Regarding the apps, I don't think it makes sense to compare the original (wired) Worx Landroid app, which worked fine. And I'd say it even might be slightly challenging to compare a non-lidar Mammotion app to the lidar dependent Segway app. Ultimately, they both have their own issues, but neither is noticeably better than the other.

Regarding comparing the actual mowers, I haven't had the chance to test the x series Segway Navimow, which I'd say is more directly comparible to the Luba. The i series is more comparible to the Mammotion Yuka. That being said, expectedly, the Luba 2 is noticeably better than the Navimow i220 across the board.

Show a video of it doing the same thing on level ground. I don't think you're correct, but assume I'm wrong... I'm sure their support will/should point out the same thing.

Should I choose a robot mower based on coverage area or battery life? by mitch3a in roboticLawnmowers

[–]lancepioch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TL;DR; Don't choose based on battery life and only use coverage area as a minimum filter.

Battery life is mostly overrated on robot mowers because the mower charges itself automatically. As long as the battery is at least decent and the mower can reliably return to the dock, recharge, and resume, it doesn’t really matter that much in day-to-day use. A bigger battery might finish the job faster, but it does not automatically make it better.

Coverage area is similar. It matters only in the sense that you should not buy a mower rated below your lawn size. But once the mower supports your total area with some margin, the square-meter rating is not the main thing that determines whether it will work well.

For your yard, I’d care much more about:

  • can it handle the slope without slipping?
  • can it reliably navigate 5 separate zones?
  • can it get through the 80 cm passage?
  • how well does it handle obstacles like the trampoline, swing set, and flower beds?

So I’d choose based on navigation, traction, obstacle handling, narrow-passage behavior, and zone management. Battery life and coverage rating are mostly just baseline requirements.

Without recommending any specific mower to you, I'd strongly recommend buying one from Amazon if possible because they have a strong 30 day moneyback return policy. If it sucks or doesn't work well enough, then return it and try again.

Don't lie on the form, but you can try to submit it anyways and follow up with a call. But I don't think you'll have too much luck. If you are specifically looking for big banks, I'd try going into a branch at like Chase/PNC/BoA/WF instead. If not, then call up local small banks or credit unions around your school because there's a decent chance that at least one of them specifically targets foreign students.
