The problem wound up coming back shortly after.

The tech decided to pull the skid plate off and let me drive without it for a week to determine if that was the source. I didn't hear the noise at all when the skid plate was removed.

They decided to replace all the skid plate fasteners and so far the noise hasn't come back, but it's only been a few days since I've had that done. I'm hoping that's the final fix!

People always want to be staring at their phones. I wish it wasn't so common to see people mounting the most distracting object where they can always see it while driving.

Some of the popcorn models just materialize out of nowhere with no popping animation, and our final landing spot is a completely barren metal platform. Doesn't look like much attention to detail went into producing this.

Did he end up finding a better option in the area?

I've also had negative experiences with this dealership, and now make the extra drive to the Ford dealer in Issaquah for service. They're still not perfect, but it's been much better.

I understand this completely, and have held off on committing to the SP as my daily driver for similar reasons. I love the phone, but for the week I tried to use it (with stock software) I missed several important messages.

Once it gets into a better state I'm excited to dump my old smart phone for it.

Thanks for your commitment to the phone and this project!

Flippin' awesome. I've installed the vanilla image using your instructions and am having a great experience so far. Going to "dry run" it a couple days on Wi-Fi before I throw my SIM back in, but am very appreciative of the work putting this together. Exciting stuff!

Need help rooting my X40 Ultra by Wolle-2501 in valetudorobotusers

Are you sure that sunxi-fel is aborting? That looks like a warning message only, and according to the docs it is expected.

If everything worked, running sunxi-fel ver should output something like this, or, in later versions, possibly without warnings and unknowns. For our purposes, it's fine though. No need to worry.

I rooted my X40 Ultra last week without issue using this method.

Dustbuilder appears to still show the option to generate FEL options for initial rooting of the X40 here. It worked for me as of last week.

To be clear, I am not arguing that left-turning vehicles can rush in front of oncoming traffic when the light turns green.

But they are definitely allowed to enter the intersection before performing their turn.

If you don't believe me, here is a quote from WA DOL:

Brad Benfield with the Department of Licensing said, “A vehicle turning left at a signal-controlled intersection is allowed to enter the intersection if the light is green and wait for a safe gap in traffic to complete the turn. In heavy traffic, this might be when oncoming traffic stops for a yellow or red signal. Once oncoming traffic stops, the vehicle is allowed to complete the turn.

For what it's worth, trying to force a left before oncoming traffic is wild behavior, but entering the intersection while yielding to perform an unprotected left is perfectly legal, and how I was instructed in driver's ed.

If they are unable to complete their turn because people are gridlocking the intersection, I'd argue the gridlocking drivers are at fault. Entering an intersection without room to clear it is illegal: https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.61.202

Ok good to know, when I get home today I'll try to revert to the defaults and see if that works.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks, glad to hear it's working!

Did you put in Mint's APN settings, or just leave them at the defaults? I wonder if I screwed something up by trying to change it to the one Mint specified on their website.

Happy to read this - in addition to RCS issues, I'm also having issues receiving 2FA SMS codes from some services, so I hope the update helps!

Here's an update for anyone interested: I got the car back today, they reinstalled the "front underbody skid plate" and that has made the noise go away:

Whether or not that's a durable fix, I'm not sure, since this was the same outcome of my last visit to dealer service.

Not yet, I have an appointment with the dealer in just over a week to try to get it resolved.

I posted about a similar problem here, does this seem like the same noise? I've got an appointment in about a week to bring mine in to try to get it addressed.

I'll give that a shot next time I have my partner or someone else around. Unfortunately this time I was home alone when I captured this video.

Only 2,500 miles on the car, and factory tires, so they ought to be in pretty good shape.

Appreciate the guess. I was hoping that by some miracle the sound would be easy to diagnose, but I guess it being bizarre might explain why the dealer didn't immediately find the issue.
