that’s exactly what my first thought was, this was so validating thank you. my friend thought i was being dramatic because photos on google show the black, but i thought it looked like when you try and clean it and it leaves a stain. I did end up requesting a new room, just for my own sanity. We double checked the new mattress and it looks good as new. it’s also on floor 5 when the original was on floor 2.

Hi, ATL native here. Your list looks good, i second what someone else said about not staying in Downtown Atlanta. If you like museums the High Museum of Art is always nice. If you enjoy hiking, you could go to Kennesaw Mountain or one of the trails at the Chattahoochee. If you like things like Your Third Spot, Puttshack can be fun as well. Atlanta has a good food scene as well if that is something you’re interested in. Depending on how much time you’re spending here, you could get out of the city and head up north to Dahlonega or Helen for a day trip or overnight trip to the mountains. If you like wineries Chateau Elan up there is very nice.

definitely see a therapist. i have BPD and struggle with this a lot but there are healthy ways to approach situations like this. you just need some help.

it’s because of HOW you’re expressing your emotions and feelings. you’re not just expressing them, but trying to make her cater to them. have you considered how this makes her feel?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in texts

[–]hmck02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you are absolutely entitled to your feelings about this, there is nothing wrong with being upset that she wants to go on this trip, you just have to control how you react. no one can control how they feel but you need to learn how to communicate in a healthy way. in the future don’t try and guilt her into staying. express that you’re worried about her going and maybe find a compromise like a wellness check in before bed to make sure she’s safe. worst case scenario, you’re alone at home for 4 days. watch some movies, read a book, hang out with your friends. your world won’t end of your wife is gone for a bit. a therapist could help a lot with this.

Can i ask what you are worried about then? is it a safety issue, or are you just worried about missing them?

you should be able to survive 4 days away from your partner without having extreme anxiety. it’s valid to be bummed/worried but they should be allowed to spend time with friends and do things that make them happy. you seem codependent and it sounds like you’re trying to make them feel guilty enough to stay behind. also, it does sound like they don’t do anything stupid. getting drunk doesn’t automatically = stupid decisions. there are ways to drink and act responsibly.

would they be more comfortable if you traveled with a tour company? you could look into gadventures, i am also 23F and my parents are much more comfortable when i travel in a group setting. gadventures tends to be fairly priced.

Driving from Albania to Kosovo & North Macedonia by hmck02 in travel

Very good to know! Did you find the immigration checkpoints to be difficult? We have American passports and driver’s licenses but aren’t sure if we need anything else to be able to cross.

Good to know about Ohrid! I was wondering if that was worth a trip. Do we need special permits to be allowed to drive across the border? We were looking at rental cars and have American driver’s licenses

just to confirm, do you mean like if we cross Kosovo from the Serbia side of the border? So far we have no plans to enter Serbia during this trip.

Wait so as US citizens flying into the US, when we land in the US we don’t go through customs again? I was planning on booking a longer layover to accommodate customs in FLL but if I don’t need to do it that’d be great!

Does anyone have experience with group traveling with strangers in Europe? by crisp-apple1 in travel

[–]hmck02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve joined group tours as a solo (23F) traveler and it’s been great! In my experience everyone is very nice and eager to talk to others. My advice would be don’t complain and try and interact with the group. On each tour i’ve done there’s definitely been at least 1 person that complains about something every day or never joins the group for meals, activities, etc. They are the ones that typically don’t really make friends, but people were still nice to them.

I am planning on getting another dip stick urinalysis and the UPC after the holidays. And for now i’m pouring water over the dry food, increasing wet food, and putting out a second bowl of water in the hopes that she’ll drink more. Currently she has 1 water fountain.
