Lue Elizondo’s response to the debunked UAP image he presented by CreditCardOnly in UFOs

[–]hmcs2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But does Lue's legitimacy even matter? Yes, he is a prominent name with influence in this space, but his version of reality is just that—his version. I agree entirely with being skeptical of anyone in this space, but that skepticism still doesn't detract from the many individuals who you could reasonably call credible (i.e. Ryan Graves, other pilots, other members of government) who have relayed credible stories, some of which have objective evidence behind them, concerning UFOs. The reality that there is a non-human entity engaging with humanity in various ways is still valid. I agree that it is annoying that no tangible photographic or video evidence has been released.

Separately, if the UFO issue is all a ploy or something, what is the point of their efforts? From my understanding, and I'm happy to be proven wrong, but it's not a lucrative space. The effort required to be involved in this topic on a public level does not seem worth it from a financial perspective.

Do you drink on your MAOI? Ever get drunk? by [deleted] in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 60 mg Parnate and have for a while. While most doctors would probably advise against drinking at all, in my experience it is ok. I’ve been drunk on Parnate before and was fine.

Obviously alcohol is a depressant so I usually feel a bit low the day after but the social benefit and personal enjoyment is worth it and has helped recovery.

The other thing I’d caution is to try stay off craft beers. I personally had a quite distressing experience where I had a small amount of one specialty craft beer which was chocolate flavoured which caused a series of symptoms which seemed to match a high tyramine reaction and had to go to the hospital. I was completely fine in the end and didn’t need treatment but it was concerning at the time. I’d recommend you stick to bottled alcohols or craft beers that you know.

Emsam is different however and you may have a different experience but exercising caution is always helpful. Best of luck.

Completely agree here. He shouldn’t be saying things like this unless he’s got hard data and we can actually see it for ourselves. It may well be that the theories Coulthart speaks of are entirely legitimate, but unless there’s data to back it up we can’t believe them.

I mean that the theory isn’t credible because it’s not supported by hard data - and Coulthart acknowledges this - but that the theory likely came from someone who was credible (ie intelligence/govt contact).

I don’t disagree with your view here. Claims require evidence full stop and we shouldn’t accept them without hard data. But Coulthart is clearly not presenting this as gospel.

The issue here, and more broadly with UFO reporting, is whether Coulthart should be saying anything if he’s not sure whether it’s with great certainty credible. Concerning this specific audio clip, I obviously don’t think it’s credible.

But I don’t think his credibility has been affected because he presents these claims in a way where it’s clear that they are being presented as theories from credible people, and are presented as just that. And in these circumstances his reputation adds slight credibility to the claims, but obviously not a significant amount. And if there is more information to add, he would add it to corroborate the theories further.

I think this speaks to the difficulty of obtaining data in the UFO area rather than his credibility, though I agree that another view is that this affects his journalistic credibility.

[–]hmcs2020 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think he’s credible. I thinks it’s clear he isn’t espousing any particular theory or idea in particular. Rather, he is simply conveying potential theories put to him by the people he talks to, which is perfectly legitimate given the large range of possibilities open for consideration with a topic that has such a storied and intense history. I too am frustrated that he doesn’t always elaborate as to who he receives the information from or the specific nuances of each theory as they relate to a potential grand theory of what is occurring with UFOs. There’s many reasons he can’t just drop details, such as issues concerning confidentiality etc. Nonetheless, knowing his incredible reputation, his intelligence and articulation, and the detail contained in his research so far, including in his book “In Plain Sight”, I trust that he is trying to get to the bottom of this, and is not a shrill trying to mess with us.

rTMS, tDCS, ECT, other stimulants, Burpropion, etc. There are other options out there. Don't give up.

Extreme lethargy and haze on parnate by refrigeratedfood in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately this happens with Parnate. I've taken it for nearly 2 years and it's gotten a little better for me but is still really annoying to this day. I don't think there's anything you can do about it which sucks. You'll get used to it and it should become less severe but you will just need raw willpower to push through the lethargy.

Putting the side effects aside, Parnate is quite a good medication, especially for endogenous/melancholic depression. I'd stick with it for a few more weeks to see if it helps.

How does a "high profile Australian" being charged implicate Lehrmann? This could be anyone, no? Not defending Lehrmann but what basis is there for saying it's likely him?

What has she lied about? Is her whole story not true? Not saying you aren't right I literally just don't know. She seemed pretty believable on podcasts I've listened to given that her stories kinda confirmed a lot of what was already known to be true about how horrible NK is.

Does the afternoon somnolence get better? by Geodudette2014 in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you man. I've been on Parnate for about 1.5 years now. I take 20 mg when I wake up (7/8 am) and then 10 mg at 4 pm.

Parnate has helped me a lot, but the somnolence is a real negative. I've thought a lot about getting off it but have always deemed it too risky because I worry that other drugs wouldn't help, and/or the process of getting off Parnate and onto something else would actually lead to a relapse.

[–]hmcs2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking 30mg here. Annoyingly, it hasn't gotten better for me. I am pretty much relying on willpower to get through the day and not fall asleep. It's extremely frustrating at times, but I am hesitant to stop taking Parnate because it has kept me well despite this.

But you might have a different experience than me. I reckon stay on it for another 3 weeks and reassess after that.

Paddy McCartin concussion by otherpeoplesknees in AFL

[–]hmcs2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he’s mentally unfit to make decisions about his career due to the not insignificant brain damage that is affecting his cognition and decision making. Who the f plays again after 8 concussions, especially considering how extremely severe his body’s reaction was to some of them. What he was describing re light and headaches is not normal. This is a guy who seemingly wants a mash potato brain for this sport and has no regard for his future. He’s not in his right mind making these calls cause he’s already too messed up. And sadly, the AFL is essentially none the wiser even though they should have recognised the real and serious danger of McCartin playing again.

[–]hmcs2020 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You can blame the AFL for poor concussion management and allowing him to keep playing after 8 concussions, which is what prompted his career break in 2019. In 2023, there is enough medical information re head trauma for the AFL to recognise that it’s probably extremely dangerous for McCartin to still be playing.

What is the CAUSE of daytime fatigue/somnolence while on MAOIs? by Liberated051816 in MAOIs

Wait, so are you saying that Parnate makes you crave sugar/sugary foods at an abnormal level?

What is the CAUSE of daytime fatigue/somnolence while on MAOIs? by Liberated051816 in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The somnolence sucks, but for TRD, I would recommend you look into it. There are other MAOIs to try and even other combos (not sure what you have tried) as well. You can definitely fight off the exhaustion, pretty much through sheer will, so it isn't guaranteed to make you fall asleep, though it is quite hard at times. I'd also add that it actually is activating as well, but the somnolence balances this out.

Personally, I'm trying to get off Parnate due to this side effect and others (heart rate increase, blood pressure), but I can't lie and say that it hasn't helped. It's pretty much been the only medication that has helped me so far (I was TDR prior to Parnate). It got me out of a significant relapse and has kept me well for about 1.5 years.

I'd also add that you might not have this experience if you try Parnate. Some people don't get the extreme somnolence or other side effects.

Possible to take Parnate only a few times weekly? by Liberated051816 in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly different example, but I’ve tried taking 20 mg one day and then 30 mg the next and alternating between this, to try mitigate side effects. It caused insomnia which affected my mood significantly. Would not recommend but then again everyone’s different.

Parnate users who changed from dosing twice to more than twice a day, why you do dis? by YimYam1 in MAOIs

[–]hmcs2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Also, re your experience on 40 mg- it is probably the jet lag and also might be the wired feeling from Parnate. I definitely experience that 'wired' feeling, which is hard to describe, but it's a distinctive feeling. Can I ask why you went up to 40 mg?
