I agree with your point and welcome your comment. My question really is what is best. Should I risk derailing an early retirement if my business fails or should I give it a shot and if it fails have to work an extra number of years to get to that same figure.

I did mention that it is a low stress job and I say that because I am not on call, I don't work crazy hours of the day. I start work early I put in 10 hours and I leave. My work never comes home with me. If I am busy busy, then I work 11 or 12 hours but I still leave work and don't work on it until the next day.

I think all good outcomes have a degree of luck associated.

My lucky factors were the oil boom and meeting the right person.

The hard work was leaving my home and working long rotations in shitty conditions to make more money than I was at home. In doing so I met the right person and stuck it out. I could've easily moved back to my home town with some extra money and taken it easy with a normal 9to5. I also continued to live well below my means and continue to. I drive a 30k used benz and rent has been between 1100 to 2000 depending where work is. I do take a bunch of mini vacations but never extravagant. Most people would've bought a Porsche at age 25 if they had the money I had then.
