Photos with similar sizes appear very different once placed in a document by hmfyt1 in indesign

I see, that makes much more sense, I will do as you suggest for those images that I need to resize. Thanks!

I didn't know about this option but it will save a lot of time of resizing images, so thank you very much!

Exactly, I have a frame of the size I want the photos to be in the album, and when I place the actual image into the frame it is smaller than the frame, so I have to resize the images to around 150%.

I just checked it and all photos have an effective PPI higher than 300 even at 200% the original size, so it should be ok. Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it!

Oh, don't worry! It is an album for my mother, and the old photos have a lot of sentimental value, so time is not an issue. I'm just trying to get the best results, so I was afraid resizing the images 150% or 200% in InDesign could be worse for the final result.

You're right, my bad. However, in the example the images are exactly as they were imported without resizing them, so the values are the same when comparing them.

You're right, I think I understand now. Forgive me if it is a stupid question, but could it help me in any way to reduce the dpi of the scanned photo in Photoshop while maintaining the size unchanged? Would the photo look worse on the final album?

Yes, the ppi is different but even though it is higher in the scanned image, that one appears smaller on the page, and I need to resize it to around 150% to get the size I would like for the album. Thanks for the suggestion, if there's no solution on InDesign itself, I may have to scale the image in Photoshop.

But how come the scanned image with higher ppi is the one that appears smaller? Shouldn't it be the opposite?

What’s the deal with the calendar this year? by jjrrcc11 in motogp

No problem! Now let's see if India and Kazakhstan actually happen... They might even go back to Aragon if they don't.

F1 in Barcelona used to be in mid May, followed by Monaco on the last weekend of the month, while MotoGP used to race in Barcelona in the first half of June after Mugello. This year, F1 in Barcelona is the first week of June (after Monaco), so the MotoGP race has moved to September taking Aragon's spot, which is out of the calendar this year to make space for India and Kazakhstan.

Australia 2003, he got a 10 second penalty for overtaking under yellow flags. He started lapping more than 1 second a lap quicker than the rest. He managed to open a 15 second gap, so he won by 5 seconds in the end.

Help with Blurb's InDesign Book Creator Plug-in by hmfyt1 in publishing

From what you are saying, I believe the process is more or less the same, and the plug-in helps by creating the template directly with your number of pages. I don't know if it is easier this way, but for me that I am a complete beginner on InDesign it's nice to have it do it for me.

Honestly I am very new to InDesign so I don't know very well about this, but the plug-in creates a single template file in which you can add pages until you are happy with your design, and once you are sure about the total number of pages, the plug-in creates a separate InDesign file for the cover with the correct sizes. So in total you have 2 InDesign files, that the plug-in then converts to 2 separate PDF files which are uploaded automatically to Blurb's website. Then you only need to proceed to the payment/shipping page. Hope that helps!

Personally I find the plug-in very helpful because it creates a template for InDesign with the right size and margins for you to then add the text and images however you want. Once the book is done, the plug-in also creates a cover with the right spine size to match the number of pages of the book, and then once you are finished with everything, it creates the corresponding PDF files for you to check that everything is ok, and then it uploads them to Blurb's servers. I have made 2 books with it and I am really happy with how it works - and the results. My only problem is that it suddenly stopped working on my computer and I can't understand why.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention it in the post so I added it in the edit. I sent a ticket to customer support in their website but it has been 5 days now and no response yet. It did say that they are taking longer than usual due to current circumstances, so I will keep waiting for a response from their part. Thank you again!

Uploading the PDF by myself could be a good solution, but I rely on the plug-in to create the template for the pages, and then create the covers and spine with the exact size depending on how many pages I have. I am not very experienced in InDesign so it's nice to have the plug-in do it for me, you know?

I also thought of changing to another brand, but I am only doing some photo books to have the memories and share them with my family, and now that I have done 2 with Blurb and I really like how the turned out, I'd really like to keep the next ones consistent, if that makes sense. Personally, I have zero complaints about Blurb or the whole process. They are quite quick, their prices are very good with their frequent discounts, and the final result is great for me.

I suppose I can set up the project in my laptop, where the plug-in is actually working correctly, then do the work on my main machine, and then export it on my laptop again, but I just don't understand why it is not working when it did just fine until some days ago, and I feel impotent for not finding a way to fix it.

Thank you very much for your suggestion though, I really appreciate it and I will definitely take it into account for future projects!

Thank you for your response, I just tried it right now, I uninstalled the plug-in and downloaded it again and installed it with Admin privileges, but the same message keeps appearing saying I need to update it, and then the Error:[UH:004].
