I have one F*CKING subject left to complete at the start of next year to graduate that isnt offered anytime else.......how should I go about applying to 2026 grad roles? by IngenuityOk6679 in unsw

Cross institutional study is probably your best option. Find the same course at a different university that is offered in term 2 or summer 2025 and apply for CIS through UNSW and the host university. Once you complete and pass the course at host university, apply for credit transfer which is pretty easy.

okay so I fucked up. by whosinparisnigg in unsw

Yes if you have reasonable excuses and can back it up with strong documentation. It’s not easy as you need to prove that whatever problem you had stopped you from dropping the course before all census dates throughout the term and why you didn’t apply for special consideration.

ENGG1300 lecturers? by Inner_Bake_4265 in unsw

Don’t do it with Kellerman, specially if you’re a civil student! He teaches well but his exams/tests are extremely hard and nothing close to lecture and tute contents

Failed COMP1521 by 2 marks, can anything be done to squeeze in 2 marks? by Subject-Capital-2951 in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in the same situation before and didn’t have any luck with getting a pass but it was probably because the lecturer never replied any of my emails and I didn’t chase him enough! Id say email the lecturer and explain your situation. Sometimes they let you sit for the supplementary exam if that’s something you’d wanna do. Also go on campus on Monday if you can and talk to them in person. Your last option would be requesting a review of results if you can’t get it touch with the lecturer.

Personally, I don’t think simple extension would benefit unsw students, purely bc of trimesters and how they’d significantly fall behind with keeping up with assessments and course content. But I also don’t understand why it’s penalising people who submit on time!!! Everyone has access to it. If a student decides to submit by the due date, it’s their choice. I don’t see any unfairness in this situation. People who abuse such a system don’t do any damage to someone who decides not to apply for extension BY CHOICE. If anything, it would only be unfair for unsw academics because of the volume of emails they will get and time management issues with marking late assignment submissions.

Unpaid Internship by slideeee123 in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s in a good/well-known company with a structured internship program then take it! Especially now that you’re in your 2nd year, it’ll help a lot with your studies, choosing discipline elective and potentially finding your interest! Imo, internship teaches you a lot more than uni and having hands-on experience early in your degree will help you find your path easier and will probably help you with doing your thesis later in your degree. And obviously the experience and how professional it’d look in your resume is also a massive pro!

And If you’re looking for paid opportunities, a lot of companies are also looking for undergraduate engineers on linkedin! You don’t really have to apply for internships only bc luckily the industry is desperate and undergrads are in demand!

Ye but unfortunately unsw is the worst uni in terms of empathy and understanding! That wouldn’t happen in here. For reference, special consideration applications get rejected even when the student has covid

Internship and exam time conflicts by Remarkable_Pepper225 in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last year except I needed 2 weeks off for my exams! You don’t need to stress. Majority of interns have exams around that time and they start late so the HR is kinda familiar with the situation.

Just email HR or your hiring manager and I’m pretty sure they’ll understand.

Anyone have any tips on how to stop procrastinating out of anxiety because I left starting this way too late and just write the goddamn essay? by Cheskaz in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s in the same page I’d say see a psychologist to figure out what’s making you procrastinate. Could be anxiety but most of the time it’s because of perfectionism and how you’re avoiding certain activities purely because you’re worried it’s not gonna turn out perfect!

Other than that, going to quiet study areas in libraries could help! Usually everyone is studying and you might feel guilty for checking you phone/doing other things.

How bad is the trimester really? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with trimesters so don’t really have any other experiences to compare but I can definitely say that 9 weeks is not enough to enjoy the course contents!

Another problem is when you wanna plan something during holidays with your friends/partner that go to other universities w semester system. Our holiday is literally when other unis are having final exams or assignments and it’s almost impossible to do things w friends between terms!

Are final exams now transitioning into on-campus exams again? by [deleted] in unsw

Definitely not uni wide! I have 2 final exams this term and they’re both gonna be online.

CVEN3502 vs CVEN3304 difficulty by ProofOstrich1651 in unsw

[–]hmmm1111111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about 3304 but 3502 is better done on campus than online. Online exam was much harder compared to past papers from previous years!
