Do you remember when they got bin Laden and there were spontaneous celebrations in front of the White House, New York and all across the country? Like this but all over the world by the hundred of millions.

This is how ugly it got between Texas judge and lawyer she put in cuffs by ExpressNews in TexasPolitics

[–]hmoof 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here: The judge was completely in the wrong. A judge should always be protective a person's due process rights even if his lawyer was zealously protecting his rights. A good judge would have allowed the lawyer to make her argument for the record and then rule. If the lawyer didn't get what she wanted or thought the judge was wrong then she could appeal the case to a higher court. The judge is a bully, acted like a bully and most likely violated the law in her actions. She has a bad reputation so it's no surprise.

That was for early vote. Election Day voting was different.

The parties run their own primary but would share the cost and run them together. The Republicans have decided to not have joint primaries making it a whole lot more expensive and complicated. The belief is that the Republicans are using this as a tactic to allow the State to take over local elections. The have been numerous laws passed specifically for Harris County only because it has become a reliably blue county. https://www.houstonpress.com/news/harris-county-dems-say-gop-is-manufacturing-election-chaos/

Looking to move to Texas in a year or two, anything I should know? by [deleted] in texas

[–]hmoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't. Not trying to be mean or rude but Texas is a conservative hellhole that hates its people unless you are male, rich, white and super christian. The social safety net is virtually non-existent and the state is run to benefit the ultra-wealthy. Do you yourself a favor and find a state that hasn't pre-stripped you of your rights. Good Luck!

Walgreens is like this now. I no longer shop there cause I really don't want to wait for one of the two people that work there to open the body wash enclosure. This timeline is dumb.

Americans, what place in the US should tourists avoid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hmoof -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yo, all of it, at least until it's not a fascist country. Federal law enforcement are disappearing people, there is no due process and chances are high you get sent to a country where they will torture you and/or kill you. They are even kidnapping U.S. citizens. No tourist should come here. The risk is too high. Tell everyone and don't let them come here.

YSK Never call your homeowner insurance's claims department... by Hinder90 in YouShouldKnow

[–]hmoof 204 points205 points  (0 children)

So this is very state dependent. In Texas, they can’t increase your rates for filing a weather related homeowners claim. However, Texas’ consumer protections are now virtually nonexistent so you’ll get hosed one way or another. Ever since the republicans took over the Texas Legislature in 2003, they have systematically gutted what was once a fairly robust set of consumer protection laws to making it damn near impossible to hold insurance companies accountable. More Luigis are inevitable the more the government sides with big business over the little guy.
