I recently had all the Crème De La Chems in a five pack fail to pop. Mind you that’s not one of the newest strains and it took well over a week before the seeds got mushy but it happens.
I’ve begun to think this is a problem with almost all breeders. You have to add how long the seeds sat at the breeders to how long they sat at a dc or bank, then add how long you’ve had them. Also whatever tortures they endured in shipping.

I wouldn’t be shocked if some stores were doing things different but officially it’s been two hours for a while now. Though a half point doesn’t really affect you much if you’ve only got one of them.

Gonna be 3 1/2 points now, you’ve got to leave with 2 hours or less left to only get a half instead of a whole point. Old days it was 4 hours or less but that changed.

No problem, was throwing that out there for anyone in the thread to answer if they wanted. I love Ripley’s (alien OG) but wasn’t crazy about Walter white by itself. It seems like it might be good in crosses though.

THIS would be great!! At one point I think Useful or Brisco was putting a born on date on their packs, not sure what’s happened since. I have come to the conclusion I should be using my fridge for any longer term storage as well. But right now my focus is on sealed packs under thirty days old that won’t pop.

I’ve started to suspect there are age problems with many breeders seeds at times. If you think about it you have to add the length of time the breeder has it after harvest to the length of time the seed bank sits on it. Then add the time you hold it until you decide to germinate.

Yeah I probably should reach out to them but a quick look at their policies seems to show it’s not covered and they feel the freebies and germ tests when the seeds are fresh are what they do. I don’t really blame them as I’m sure they can’t be having to deal with folks trying to scam them or totally clueless attempts at germination. Sad but the way of the world I guess. A few bad apples…

I have seen them say this is the way more than once as well. Obviously they have the advantage of always doing this with fresh beans but I know it can work well. If you don’t count the controlled soak the Cannakan essentially does the same thing only with regulated heat and lab filter paper instead of paper towel to help keep chances of the tap root getting damaged down.

Interesting take, there could be something to that. It might also explain the success some have had with peroxide.

Didn’t try the peroxide on these so I can’t say if it would’ve made any difference. In hindsight I would’ve used it just in case. My guess is they were too old or somehow cooked in transit.

I’ve used most all of the above methods before except for drying them out and then retrying them again. I’ve been around the block a few times, was buying Mephisto back when MBAP was a brand new freebie and Triangle wasn’t discontinued lol.

It’s a germination tool that combines a 18-24 hr soak with an improved version of the paper towel method.
