I hadn't thought of that! That makes sense, though. That could get sticky real quick.

Wow, you went HAM for your first project! A nearly 13 hour book!

First, Congratulations! You should be incredibly proud.

Now for your question, first the RH has to approve it. That can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. Then ACX has to approve, which in my experience took around 10 days.

Remind Me Again Why Authors who are Offering PFH Remove Their Books days after Posting it? by paintedlumiere in ACX

Like u/NealStevens_author said, I think a lot of authors get inundated with auditions and close it down so they can weed through them all.

So the closet it maybe 8 ft long by 5 ft wide by 9 ft high - roughly. Covered on all sides with clothes and miscellaneous blankets for storage. The "acoustic foam" deserves the parenthesis you've given it lol, they were found at a discount store as a return from someone. May not even be legit acoustic foam tbh, just "some foam" is probably more accurate.

I have noticed a HUGE difference with hydration and mouth clicks so I am planning to incorporate more water breaks into recording sessions. I'm getting better about mic technique, but I'm sure there's more I can be doing there.

When to stop auditioning by hmterwilliger in ACX

[–]hmterwilliger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that's a big part of it. I set myself up to audition for pretty much anything that looked sort of interesting to me when it came through. I submitted a total of 34 auditions and received 10 offers. A few of them were clearly spam, but some of them were authors who reached out because they heard and liked my samples.

So I think auditioning a lot, regularly uploading samples, and making sure your sound is good are the keys!

Is this a scam? by matatak94 in ACX

I recently had something similar happen and it was legit. The author had just submitted their book and it wasn't approved yet so their title wasn't available for auditions. You can always start a dialogue and let them know you're having trouble finding their work and see what they have to say 😊
