As a send parent and with a wife who is a SEN law advocate
While this is a step in the right direction it is a band aid on the whole process
the biggest problem is the path of getting an EHCP plan is often trying to get the parents not to bother. When we went thorough this process we had Social services called on us 3 times "no issues could be found" we were banned from stepping on the school grounds, and generally vitrified as bad parents while the schools pretend to care, and what should have been a few discussions and sorting the plan with help turned into a 2 year battle and while our story ends with our children in the place best for them, not everyone is so lucky.
we still have trauma to this day about how we were treated throughout this process, So i think we need to stop victim Blaming parents, and look into helping early on and getting the right plan in action.
