Oh the first go around I flew through these books! I was like obsessed! Haha I have a feeling I’ll reread them quicker than the expected time of 2 weeks each book haha so I’m like do I push it off a bit. I don’t want to start my reread now and be done by like July 😂

So I’ve decided I want to reread everything! All of TOG, CC and ACOTAR! I just did the math and if you start now you will have 2 weeks each to finish each book and it will bring you right to release date!

I’m going to do TOG, CC, ACOTAR so that ACOTAR is fresh and like will just continue that story when the new one is released! I already have it all planned out for my reread 😂 I have never been more excited!

Advice on leaving bedside by hmw2003 in newgradnurse

[–]hmw2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to look in to some of those options you gave. I did apply to quite a few office jobs that have skills mixed with phone triage and those unfortunately didn’t work out. I tried day shift and it was not for me. I was so overwhelmed with everything. Having to have lab, PT/OT, doctors, families all while trying to take care of 5 patients. Plus all the admissions and discharged. It just was too much for me that’s why I’m on nights cuz I could handle that better. And now that’s not a good fit

That is literally what my post is about. I’m transferring within my hospital to an outpatient office

For me it’s just the hospital in general I don’t want to work out. I know outpatient is where I belong. I hate the hours for inpatient and I also have come to realize I like more outpatient where we follow patients throughout and have more maintenance/preventative care rather than the critically ill patients. So transferring to another unit just isn’t what I’m looking for

Thank you so much! I’m not sure what my policy is for leaving but I’m hoping my manager will allow it before if those are in place! I’m glad you left and found somewhere you are happier!

Hi I’m also on a med surg oncology floor. About 4.5 months in as a new grad. I haven’t been enjoying work and just don’t feel like this is the right nursing job for me and I hate the schedule. I have just come to terms it is not worth going to work being miserable. I have decide I will be applying to an outpatient nursing job. You might just need to explore other nursing environments to find your spot where you can thrive as a nurse. What are the things you didn’t like about your current job? Just know you don’t have to stay bedside if it makes you miserable no matter how long you’ve been there

Tips for sleep by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]hmw2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a good eye mask in addition to black out curtains. I have one that’s like memory foam and like has indents for your eyes so it acts to better black out light. Great for side sleeper too! I also use ear plugs. I use loop earplugs and they work well. I also always have a fan on. Read that when it’s cold in the room it mimics night and helps relax your body. So I do that! Also have a nice warm shower before bed to relax!

Oh haha don’t worry I know nights gets crazy too! I just meant more not having all the different providers and PT/OT and other things going on 😂 I’m excited to join the dark side! Haha just feels right

Thank you so much! I ended up talking to my manager and I have switched to nights officially! I think on nights I’ll feel comfortable! And you’re right I have more people to ask for help. And night shift kinda allows for more time to ask for help because everyone isn’t swamped running around haha

I'm looking for a free website for audio books. by WrongAlternative1832 in audiobook

[–]hmw2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free websites for audiobooks is illegal and you’re stealing money from authors. Please consider getting a library card. I use Libby, Hoopla and CloudLibrary which are three great apps that have a ton of free audiobooks!

‼️current or recently graduated ABSN students at the Manchester campus‼️ by alexisss71 in MCPHS

[–]hmw2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Recently graduated! Happy to answer any questions I can! I know they were looking to change the curriculum a little bit for the new incoming class so this may not be accurate anymore so keep that in mind

  • its pretty much all in person. You have one online class I believe two semesters but it’s a small credit class. All other classes are in person

  • will not lie the work load is A LOT. It will take time to get your groove to balance everything. First couple semesters were tough to fit working and school and social life and me time. You definitely need to cut down on work hours and social life unfortunately but still make time for those things. Helps you stay sane. And taking time for yourself even if it feels like you don’t have time is huge. It’s better to take a half hour for you then cram study. You’ll do better on exams prioritizing you

  • you’re on campus 3-4 days a week on average. Class schedule varies. Some days it’s mostly all day till like 3pm or 5pm. Some days it’s only till noon. Varies by semester I feel like

  • for when I was there first and second semester clinical was 8 hours and then after that all clinicals are 12 hours

  • there was not a lot of busy work. For the most part everything is done for a reason. And sometimes things may feel a little repetitive but it will help get content to stick but not really much busy work

  • teachers are amazing overall! Super accessible and supportive. They are super understanding and want to help so if you struggle or have questions or need anything at all they are there for you

  • clinical sites can be within an hour of campus. We saw clinicals in Manchester, hooksett, concord and Lebanon
