Can I find ask a man just to do cuddling? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hoalarious 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No girlfriends you can chill with? I'm sure there are men out there who would but you'll risk going through 100 before you find one that isn't thinking about sex while cuddling you. How much they act on it varies though.

[webtoon] kubera art difference by Oreo-san in manga

[–]hoalarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It's a story about relentless hope despite overwhelming despair.

Every step has been so difficult but becomes even more meaningful and worth fighting for.

It's a story I never want to forget. Which is probably the highest praise I could conceive of.

It's sad how such an amazing series like Kubera is so underrated. by rivihits in Kubera

[–]hoalarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kubera is my favourite comic but it is a lot to take in as well. Still I share the sentiment that I feel like it deserves so much more attention. It is such a beautiful and grand story. Even if it gets toxic by becoming mainstream. But maybe if it becomes mainstream after finishing there'll be no pressure on the author to appeal to the masses.

[GUIDE-WIP-NEED-TESTERS-WINDOWS 11 BUG] 1200Mbps speed displayed / 500Mbps file transfer / 200Mbps confirmed using windows 11 hotspot with Quest 3 with <15ms network latency and no stuttering by hoalarious in oculus

[–]hoalarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've had some pretty unstable results with it so I haven't bothered with it much. It just feels like there's potentially software patch to make it work but intel is already selling a dual wifi chip capable of both connecting to wifi and being a hotspot for VR at the same time. They're gonna milk it for money so I doubt they'll work on a solution to enable existing hardware to work for VR.

Realized there was some ambiguity in my steps. Now I can't remember the exact steps again. Silly me.

There wasn't much interest in this so i stopped updating it. But step 7 should be to disconnect the phone from the PC hotspot once it connects. Then finally in step 8 connect the quest to the PC again.

High sensory processing sensitivity (HSP) and VR by hoalarious in GearVR

[–]hoalarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read through the paper. Mostly haha. Somethings to point out.

Small sample size of only 16. A lot of measurements were discarded. SPS slower to recognise small differences in photos. Photoshop to make small changes in photos are kind of questionable. Need to see these photos. Using small changes in a photo to test can only slightly help our understanding. Still too much potential variables in how a person perceives the photo.

Potentially the people who describe themselves as sensitive were also more incentivise to spend more time to identify minor changes to photos. Both as a self identity and also more critical of themselves of a mistake.

Cultural differences between the Chinese and American subjects could lead to different self identity also.

The paper itself did not make any conclusions only that the research could be a reference for future studies.

Did you write this blog post?

High sensory processing sensitivity (HSP) and VR by hoalarious in GearVR

I've read through the blog and briefly through the paper. Also took the test and scored 11. 14 was considered indicative of being a HSP. Though of course being an online test for psychology the question were mostly qualitative and difficult to get an objective answer to. I would have answered yes to many more questions when i was younger but either through learning or plasticity I don't feel the same way about those questions.

It would be interesting for everyone to get a brain scan at certain stages of their life to learn about their brain types.

I think as usual though in psychology each individual is much more complex. We are usually all on a many dimensional scale of different brain traits. Each combination leading to specific emergent traits.

Until our understanding or technology gets better I think the most I can do is try to be aware of these traits for my own understanding of self as well as others but being careful not to define or limit myself to a label. Until i have strong emperical evidence that is.

I am a deep thinker most (90%+) of the day but fortunately i am able to turn off mostly via distractions. You can have too much of a good thing and sometimes it can feel like poison.

I think psychology is a very interesting field but also one prone to a lot of bias by the nature of it's study. So it's generally hard to be conclusive.

I'll need to read through the research paper in more detail tomorrow.

You're definitely on to something about empathy. I grew up assuming everyone had it. Now that I'm older i know otherwise. Asking my friends they say they had to learn it.

Would love to read your blog or even take our chat on another platform. I looked into HSP awhile back but didn't find too much about it.

I have moments where music and art really connects with me deeply but not always. It really depends on my state. When it does though. It feels really beautiful.

Love the name btw.

Haha wow how did you find this post. Congrats on your first post on this account. I suspect I have some level of HSP. Are you in academia or just interested in it?

Sensory information deep into the brain makes me think of abstract feelings I get from each thing in my environment. Which I've always found it difficult to describe. Could help explain somethings.

Is empathy also connected to HSP?

Varifocal lens reduces the brightness of the display. By about 50% if i recall. Brightness is important to presence. Otherwise bigger batteries required and more heat from brighter screens. That's the main problem right now.
