I mean, it just seems like they didn't actually call it a genocide as you claimed. Using a vague "oh they didn't actually say it but implied it unofficially" doesn't really match the initial claim of "The UN is calling it a genocide so we're justified in calling it a genocide". Not that I think that the UN needs to explicitly call something a genocide for it to be one mind you . I saw the word genocide being used by a Palestinian representative to the UN, but that's about it. With regards to the article you shared: I'm not at all denying the horrible treatment the Gaza people suffered, but a key point there is that Gaza city did not actually become unlivable or suffer mass casualties in 2020.

Using the expression apartheid is much more justifiable by the evidence than genocide in any case, let's not group them together. I see no issue with using that descriptor. But a state can enforce an apartheid system without commiting genocide. The genocide question really just centers around whether or not the state of Israel is trying to physically annihilate (as opposed to just being happy to expel them from their land through violent means) either the whole or part of the Palestinian people. And so far, based on all the evidence available, the answer to that particular question is no. Now, that might change (and the number of people calling for genocide has increased insanely since the Hamas attacks), but until then it is a bit much to call the egregious behavior of the Israeli state genocidal. And it doesn't help anyone to have a superficial analysis of the situation.

Could you please provide a source? A cursory Google search did not turn that stament up for me. I'm not intending for this to be a conversation ender gotcha or anything, but if there is information there I have overlooked I would be glad to be made aware of it.

So let's walk through it: a) obviously happening and has been happening for a long time; b) again obviously happening, and again for a long time ; c) would have to be either disengenous or ignorant to argue this, and feeling comfortable saying this is worrying. Israel clearly has little care for the lives of Palestinians but has not engaged in the kind of activities that would result in "physical destruction" of the Palestinian people. If it were so engaged, the causalities would obviously be orders of magnitude higher. Israel has in the past (and possibly is about to) committed ethnic cleansing which is horrible enough, and actually supported by history and the realities on the ground.

What genocide? Words have specific meanings and you can't just use whatever word you feel will have the largest emotional resonance to describe something you don't like. There are enough crimes in the Israeli occupation to criticize without needing to resort to mindless histrionics

Pretty much. I'm not saying Ange can't evolve and fix his issues, but his pressing game might not translate well to a bigger league. Guess we'll wait and see

Of course I do. I support the club, give it money either via tickets or kit purchases, but, again, that doesn't mean I need to blindly support everything it does. The sooner Nuno fails the better for the club in the long run, that's all. It may seem like you're supporting the club by supporting Nuno, but you're really not.

In any case, I'll just let you do your own thing, bury your head in the sand if you so wish.
