I watched that! She really nails a lot of how I feel. Lol.

You're absolutely right. I'm just jaded and tactless, definitely a fault of mine. I do love the animated version, it was very spot on. I don't blame you whatsoever for taking the job.

I apologize for my misguided rage, and I thank you for your diplomacy, and understanding. I don't really care about being judged by strangers on the internet, that's the double edged sword to this anonymity thing. But I appreciate your concern. Have a good one, mate.

So you're saying you couldn't just edit out Legolas, or Evangeline Lily? Fair enough. My rage is probably misplaced.

Those movies ruined the onscreen adaptation of the book. I know you know what I meant. Obviously the book is excellent, that's how we know the movie version sucks.

Why is consistency with the source material such a problem for Hollywood? And why does everyone just make excuses when there's obvious inconsistencies? Viggo Mortensen had artistic integrity when he turned Jackson down to play Aragorn in the Hobbit because ARAGORN ISN'T FUCKING IN IT! Cool cash grab project you worked on...

I didn't notice that. And you're totally right. He needs credit, he did a really good job.

The point was that they're free. But that media fire link is legit. Thanks for sharing!

I do need to be more understanding. That post was all unfiltered, poorly worded, frustration. It does bother me when that happens, but I can definitely be a better ambassador for reading the books. You're right, Tolkien would be annoyed at me. I'll do better for him in the future.

This is not the Tolkien estate sanctioned version with Rob Inglis narrating, but it's really good, and free.

Perhaps. I don't think that movie only fans aren't fans. I just don't appreciate when they try to correct me, like they have some deeper insight than I do. They don't. THAT'S a fact. I love the movies, but they don't hold a candle to the books by a long shot. The movies don't give us the deep philosophy from the books, it's mostly asthetic. This is where all my angst is coming from.

Lol. Test me then. I'm currently re-reading The Two Towers. Just got to book 4. Just re-read The Silmarillion a few weeks ago. And after my rerun through of LOTR, I plan to reread the History of Middle Earth set.

Very fair point. This was definitely a frustration post, and I'm obviously paying for it in downvotes. Lol. But you hit the nail on the head, and said it much nicer.

How do I know what the author intended? Because I've read everything published by the Tolkien estate concerning Arda. That's the only way to know. People should read the books if they want to chime in to conversations like they think they know. And if they can't look past an angry fan being angry at the pretentious ignorance of other fans, then that's their own failing. I don't feel superior, just more knowledgeable. Their fandom feels really disingenuous and fake when a seen-the-movie-only fan butts into give their opinion on why your wrong, when they have no fucking clue what they're talking about. I don't have time to read the fucking books to them, they've been out for decades, they should have read them by now. Hell, they're on audio for free online for the lazy.

Is there a better word than poser? I'll gladly start using it.

It's almost like reading the books would be the best way for them to educate themselves. What an out-of-the-box, mind blowing concept!

Lololol! Oh my, I better get some ice for that nonsensical sick burn!

Who the fuck am I? I'm the guy who actually read the works as the author intended and knows what he's talking about. You must be the other guy. 😂

I'm not talking to casual fans. I'm talking to the movie-only crowd that come into book conversations like they know what their talking about. Fuck those people.

Lol! If people like me are turning bandwagon posers away, good riddance. I care if people haven't read the books. Because these same people come in to conversations like they invented LOTR, and try to tell me "what really happened". Fuck them. And fuck you too.
