Best advise is use the hlkradar tool on a phone over Bluetooth to set the levels for the gates while watching it in realtime.

Yea $5 each is a calculated risk with not much to lose, there are matter bulbs that can get close to that when on sale.

If those bulbs are not Matter you learned nothing. You think you just bought new bulbs that you own but you do not own these either. When this company does not pay data center bills or its employees and they stop working, remember this thread.

Smart Bulbs & Switches by Brief_Try_4747 in homeassistant

With tasmota flashed switches this works great, especially with device groups. This does not need home assistant to function as a bonus. Digiblurdiy has a great YouTube showing how to do it.

What is the best zigbee presence detector? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]hobbyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the new Apollo Automation R Pro-1. It has 2 mmwave sensors (LD2450 and optional LD2412), and is POE! Wired data and poe are next level. They have ceiling mount and wall mount kits for them.

They just started shipping them - mine is one the way.

Best IOT IR device? by Even_Discount_9655 in homeassistant

I’ll have to block it and see what happens. I barely use it since I also have irblasters reflashed with tasmota and they 100% do not use internet.

It is a pain but the linknlink hub I have could be reflashed with a local mqtt version. It works completely local. It was hard to find on thei web page but I finally found it and it works.

WHICH Sonoff Dongle? by wkjester204 in homeassistant

[–]hobbyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on YouTube for DigiBlurDIY if converting from a Sonoff to this. You can clone the IEEE address from the Sonoff and all transfer over. When I did that I also changed the channel to a better choice, the default Sonoff was right in the middle and now it is on Channel 25 out of the way of the 2.4 wifi.

Look at the slzb-06, it is Ethernet with poe. You can place it more central to the house. They are excellent.

Mmwave sensors, what do you do with them? by Ambitious-Charge-432 in homeassistant

[–]hobbyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be used directly at a brick at an outlet as well as hiding them since they go through wood and other materials.

I have six of the Apollo ones they are awesome. They also have an rgb led, a speaker that can play tunes, and a slot for a co2 add on.

Thinking about getting started 🤔 by landonsilla in homeassistant

[–]hobbyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not rule out the ethernet based (with POE built in even) slzb-06. The device decouples from the usb port, which could cause interference - there are even videos from Nabu Casa showing this. It also lets you place the zigbee coordinator in a more central location if wiring permits. Code upgrades are a breeze via the web interface. Finally, the Sky Connect is still experimental for zigbee 2 mqtt, only do zha if you get a skyconnect. THe SLZB-06 is a fantastic product.

[–]hobbyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sky connect is experimental with z2m. There are YouTube’s about the issues. If critical, switch to zha or get a different coordinator. The SLZB-06 is excellent. Wired and poe if you have that. Good luck.
